The thing I like most about this weeder is that it's very easy to use. Not only is it sturdy, but it's light-weight, not to large but not to small. My 9 yr old can even use it. Not the best for clay soils

For sandy soils, this should be ok for the homeowner. Clay and very compact soils is where it struggles. For one, it lacks the edge and mass to push down and underneath denser packed and tough grassy weeds like poa annua and dallisgrass. Shallow broadleaf weeds are ok with it. I do like the cushiony grip, but the angle of the blade seems sort of clumsy. Where it falls short, my 1970’s wooden handled fork is better able to tough it out. Bottom line is that this is a light tool for loose soils and one or two weeds a summer.
