USA up for cleaner air

In February 2024 the US Environmental Protection Agency finalised the new National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for PM2.5, reducing the limit from 12.0 µg/m3 to 9.0 µg/m3. The new air quality standard is set to go into effect on 6 May 2024, and by 2032 Americans can expect to see up to 4,500 premature deaths avoided and 46 billion US dollars in net health benefits.
