About us

Women in Property creates opportunities, expands knowledge and inspires change for women working in the property and construction industry. We believe that success and its rewards should be founded on merit and expertise, rather than gender. We actively seek an industry that is balanced, diverse and inclusive, so we nurture girls aspiring to a career in the built environment sector, as well as supporting those in ‘mid-career’ and at board level. Our network links members to fellow professionals across sectors and across the UK. We are multi-disciplinary, encouraging an exchange of ideas and sharing of expertise, often through our extensive schedule of best practice workshops, site visits, key note talks and social events.

🌟 MIDLANDS STUDENT AWARDS 🌟 The Midlands committee are delighted to have kicked off the 2024 Midlands Student Awards today with our first regional judging day! We are absolutely blown away to have had 29 student nominations this year across West and East Midlands Universities - a new record! Today saw the first of our three consecutive judging days, and we would like to thank today's judges for participating on the judging panel: Hannah Floyd – Pi SQ - Furniture Consultancy and Midlands branch chair Jessica Graham – Savills Andy Nock – Amazon Naomi Buckley - tp bennett Ben Asquith – SEGRO plc Thank you also to Deloitte for hosting today's judging day. Finally a special thank you to SEGRO plc for sponsoring this year's Midlands Student Awards! Women in Property Student Awards 2024 continued in the South East region yesterday with interviews at RSM UK. It was a another full day with high quality nominees interviewed. We would like to thank our lovely interview panel (pictured below left to right) Amy A. – Savills, Emma Green – tp bennett, Jennifer Johnston – Amazon and Adam Elliott - Bouygues. A week passes so quickly! Always an inspiring evening celebrating the best of the best students who were regional winners in the Women in Property student awards. Congratulations to all those who were selected for the awards, from 53 universities, 109 students entered. 14 students were interviewed last week and one winner selected - Elsie Gribbon - 2023 winner. 🏆 Thanks to national chair Chithra Marsh and vice national chair Jennifer Winyard MRICS MRTPI for their excellent compèring. Teenage girls are designed out of UK parks – and now we have the data which proves this. Make Space for Girls has been campaigning for better parks and public spaces for teenage girls for over two and half years now, and for all that time it’s been fairly common knowledge that the kinds of things we provide for teenagers in parks – skate parks, BMX tracks and MUGAs or fenced pitches – are mostly used by boys. But until now, there hasn’t been any data to prove or disprove this. I can't believe I'm actually writing this post, but I am really proud to announce that on Thursday I won the National Women In Property Student Awards. Meeting the other finalists has been an absolute highlight, I was so inspired by all the other women and look forward to our time in industry together. Firstly, a huge thankyou to Women in Property , Women in Property National Student Awards , Vanessa Lancaster , Jennifer Winyard MRICS MRTPI and Chithra Marsh for the incredibly hard work that went in to making this experience for us. Thankyou to the National Sponsors, Amazon , BOUYGUES UK , Savills & tp bennett , who all had representatives on the judging panels, and also the West Midlands Regional sponsors Corstorphine & Wright & ISG . A very special thank you to Women in Property Midlands and especially Janet Rowley and Imogen Smazanovich who spent so much time and effort mentoring myself and Aimée Darley - not only preparing us for this competition, but also for our continued careers in industry. Thank you to all of our guest interviewers who have helped shape my outlook on my career and development through sharing their experiences. I look forward to spending more time with you all and becoming an ambassador for the programme - in the words of Hannah Floyd - "this is only the beginning!"
