The role embraces a wide range of Finance activity, combining routine monthly responsibilities with more diverse project and process improvement initiatives. Part of a busy Finance department, this variety provides an opportunity to develop your skills and make a real difference.
The successful candidate will be hands on, with a broad range of skills and experience, to include good Excel capabilities, system literacy, transactional accounting knowledge and strong attention to detail. You will be deadline oriented, with a structured and pro-active approach to your work.
This is a new position, designed to provide essential support to the UK Financial Controller across the full gamut of accounting deliverables. You will also work closely with the Bulgarian based Finance support team, and we expect our relationship with our US owners to further develop. This appointment is seen as a key part of our longer-term vision for the Finance team, so the role and responsibilities will evolve over time to reflect this.
Core Roles & Responsibilities
Covering a small and varied portfolio of companies, it includes, but is not limited to:
Period end review and analysis of debtor, creditor and bank ledgers, including period close and encompassing support and guidance to the Bulgarian processing team
Supporting Bulgarian credit control activities, handling escalation of problem debts
Full range of P&L and Balance Sheet reviews / reconciliations
Completion of regular monthly journals
Full ownership of small subsidiary company, from billing to month end reporting
Review of foreign subsidiary companies
Production of regular monthly or ad-hoc management reports
Actively supporting the year end audit
Supporting all VAT checks and reporting, including UK MTD and EU processes for a range of related companies
Contributing to the continual development of best practice and systems improvement
Requirements
The over-riding requirement is a sound understanding of double entry and core business processes, together with an understanding of basic financial controls, governance and reporting.
