So the results are in for my weekly poll around being able to offshore IAM resource,   52% where happy to outsource resource globally, 27% thought it was ok to offshore/nearshore but had to stay within Eurozone and 21% said no to having the resource outside of the country where the project is being delivered I agree with a lot of the comments, in regards to the question is a "it depends" question. I appreciate there are projects where certain legislation apply in country and therefore resource has to comply to these. But the main point I was hoping to get across is, be flexible if you have a project that needs a resource in a certain location, that's fine, but if another project comes up and the legislation doesn’t apply don’t make this new resource do it just because that what’s being done already. Your office may be in x location, but if there isn’t the skill set in that location let them work from other areas of the country, don’t make it a requirement to be in the office frequently I hear lots about skill shortages within IAM; personally I believe there are lot of companies out there asking for lots of experience, when they don’t actually need that level of person to do the position they have and their salaries are reflecting the true position not the job spec (this isn't a skill shortage this is a poor spec) In my opinion, if you are flexible and realistic in your requirements then it’s not as bad out there as some think. #beflexible

The TEKsystems: 'State of Digital Transformation, 2024' report, makes for a really, really interesting read! Some really interesting insights into how organisations are planning to invest and transform, the returns they're expecting and what they're prioritising to ensure their digital transformation efforts are set to be successfully delivered. I wanted to highlight a few areas from within the report, as many of the findings really resonated with conversations I've had with retail/consumer technology and digital leaders in recent months. The survey found that the top Digital Transformation goals are to:- - Improve Customer Experience and Engagament: 35% - Replace or upgrade legacy IT systems: 34% - Reduce operational ineffiency: 31% - Enhance employee performance/productivity: 30% - Transform existing business processes: 29% Other notable DX focusses noted were: increase innovation, bolster cybersecurity, increase speed to market of products and services, and introducing new products and services. The Top Digital Transformation Challenges were listed as:- - Complexity of current environment / siloed mindset: 32% - Gaps in technical talent: 27% - High or unforeseen costs: 26% - Cultural and capability issues: 25% - Change Management and implementation complications: 24% - Economic uncertainties: 24% - Lack of internal alignment: 22% - Alignment of DX initiatives to business strategy: 20% - Lack of Snr level support: 13% Also interesting to read was the sheer lack of confidence many organisations have in their existing teams to successfully deliver their transformational roadmaps: - 10% suggested a need to completely revise their talent base, - 33% stated that they need many new types of talent in volume, - 49% believe they require some new types of talent in a few areas, - 8% feel as though they have all the skills they need. Needless to say, the digital transformation goals of the surveyed organisations will be virtually impossible to achieve without first: - strategising around how to tackle the expected challenges - building an appropriate talent acquisition strategy and an effective, skill-relevant delivery capability. Great post Leo Sparkes. I would add to this. Could you set up the right processes before you start the recruitment process? Many companies set themselves up for failure and start interviewing before considering how they can be most effective. Some things to think about before starting your interviews: ~ Next stages. How can we get decision-makers aligned post-interview quickly? ~ Visibility. How can we ensure all decision-makers have visibility on candidates in the process?

WANT TO HIRE GREAT PEOPLE INTO YOUR TECH TEAM BUT FIND YOUR RECRUITERS MISS THE MARK? Ask yourself a few questions: - How closely do you work with your recruiters? Do you keep them at arms length or do you really bring them close so that they understand you and your business? Do you scrutinise your recruitment partners in the same manner you'd pick a vendor for tech service? If people are a businesses most valuable asset, surely you'd properly qualify any potential recruiter to supply your staff I mean, you'd have a pretty extensive list of 'must haves' if selecting a Systems Integrator or IT Consultancy to work with And you'd expect to dig deeper beyond glossy brochures and sales-pitches to look for evidence of results and a level of knowledge So how come so many firms don't do the same when picking recruitment partners? If you're not building close working partnerships with your recruiters, who you have carefully selected, who's advice you genuinely value Then there is a reason why you're struggling to hire!
