We are excited to share that LabCycle has been awarded a second SBRI Healthcare award for our project, "From waste to products: a pioneering circular economy model for research and healthcare systems." 🚀 Our project aims to revolutionise the way the NHS handle plastic waste and to create a sustainable circular model that minimises environmental impact. By recycling single-use plastic consumables into high-grade pellets for manufacturing lab/medical-grade products, we're closing the loop on waste and reducing the carbon footprint of healthcare delivery. We're committed to driving change towards a Net Zero NHS, ensuring that patient care today doesn't come at the expense of our environment tomorrow. Are you considering changing your clinical systems? It’s a daunting task, isn’t it? Recently, we co-hosted a webinar with colleagues from NHS BSOL and Primary Care Analytics that delved into the intricacies of changing clinical systems within the NHS. The fab team at BSOL shared their journey, shedding light on the challenges and opportunities that come with such a significant transition. Here are a few takeaways and tips you might find helpful. 1. Engage and Collaborate: Engaging with your team and understanding their needs is crucial. BSol used a "speed dating" approach with system suppliers to get a clear picture of what each could offer. This innovative method allowed them to evaluate capabilities effectively. 2. Adopt the MoSCoW Approach: Evaluate new systems by categorising features into Must-haves, Should-haves, Could-haves, and Will not-haves. This structured approach helps in making informed decisions. 3. Focus on Data and Cybersecurity: Multiple systems can lead to cybersecurity concerns and increased costs. Thorough software and hardware audits are essential to mitigate these risks. 4. Test Interoperability: BSol tested interoperability by allowing practices within the same PCN to use different systems. This approach helps ensure seamless data sharing and communication. 5. Emphasise Change Management: Business process analysis and ongoing adaptation are key. Continuous communication and addressing concerns promptly can smooth the transition. Some important lessons Learned: ➡️Start Audits Early: Comprehensive checks are vital. ➡️Maintain Open Communication: Transparency is crucial for addressing issues. ➡️Prepare for Unexpected Challenges: Flexibility and readiness to adapt are necessary. ➡️Assess Current System Limitations:Identify pain points and challenges ➡️Engage with Stakeholders: Participate in discussions and provide feedback. ➡️Evaluate New Systems: Use structured approaches to assess potential new systems. ➡️Plan for Data and Cybersecurity: Conduct thorough audits. ➡️Test Interoperability: Ensure seamless communication within your PCN. ➡️ Prioritise change Management and Training: ➡️Monitor and Adapt: Regularly review and adjust as needed. ➡️Leverage Support: Utilise available resources, expertise and networks. If you're considering a change then we are running another session on early June which is free to attend. Featuring guest speakers: Kate Thomas from NHS Birmingham and Solihull, Emile Axelrad CEO of Medicus Health, Amy Glees Head of Product and Technology at MedicalDirector, Chris Tomlinson regional manager at Redmoor Health and Conor Price Managing Director of Primary Care Analytics 🚀 Find out more and register here: https://ow.ly/giWa50RO8Hj #nhs #procurement #support

The NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP) has the potential to significantly improve how the NHS meets patient needs, both today and in the future. Here's how: >> Improved Care Coordination: > Reduced Information Silos: FDP connects patient information across different NHS organisations, allowing for a more holistic view of their health journey. This eliminates the need for repeated data collection and ensures healthcare professionals have the most up-to-date information to make informed decisions. > Targeted Resource Allocation: By providing insights into population health trends, the FDP can help Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) better understand their communities' needs and allocate resources more effectively. This can lead to improved preventative care, earlier interventions, and better management of long-term conditions. >> Enhanced Efficiency: > Reduced Administrative Burden: FDP can automate data sharing and reporting, freeing up clinician time from administrative tasks and allowing them to focus on patient care. > Improved Bed Management: Real-time data on bed availability across different care settings can help optimise bed allocation, reducing waiting times for hospital admissions and ensuring patients receive care in the most appropriate setting. >> Future-Proofing the NHS: > Data-Driven Decision Making: The FDP provides a platform for analyzing vast amounts of healthcare data, enabling data-driven decision making for service planning, resource allocation, and identifying areas for improvement. > Supporting New Technologies: The platform can be integrated with future digital health solutions, such as telehealth and remote monitoring tools, further personalising and improving patient care. Overall, the NHS FDP represents a significant step towards a more connected and data-driven healthcare system with the potential to significantly improve how the NHS meets the needs of patients, both now and in the future. In our latest premium research, the team delved into the importance of Big Tech in Digital Health innovation. Our analysis revealed that while Big Tech’s role in Digital Health innovation is complementary, their substantial resources and technological prowess are crucial in forging impactful partnerships. Big Tech leverages its tech capabilities to enhance healthcare delivery, albeit with careful consideration of patient-centric values and regulatory requirements. Startups, academic institutions, and healthcare organizations remain at the forefront, driving the unique advancements needed in this specialized field. However, there have been significant trends and developments over the past five years. Partnerships between tech companies and Digital Health ventures have grown at an impressive CAGR of 32%, surpassing the 29% growth rate of non-tech corporate collaborations. As of May 2024, Tech has overtaken Biopharma, claiming a 10% share of partnerships with Digital Health initiatives. The NHS England Priorities and Operational Planning Guidance 2024/25 has recently been released and Steve Wightman, Commercial Director at The Access Group, shared his opinion about this #NHS publication: “The long-awaited publication of NHS England’s planning guidance gives some welcomed clarity to the ambitious productivity plans for 2024/2025. And with clear opportunities for digital and data to underpin many of the recommendations, it’s good to see the recommitment to strategic plans, such as ‘A plan for digital health and care’ and ‘Data Saves Lives’. Plus, further details on how the NHS can utilise the £3.4 billion technology investment from the Spring Budget to progress the levelling up agenda. We’ve seen first-hand how the use of integrated digital solutions can help providers breakdown the friction between healthcare boundaries, improve patient flow and reduce waiting times. A key part of our integrated care vision is an intelligent digital care record which combines multiple data sources in one place, giving you a real-time view of the record from various care settings. It’s vital that these examples are scaled up at a system-wide level as part of the plans to implement the guidance and help empower decision making based on the most reliable data.” Read the full guidance here: https://ow.ly/lV8u50RkW2g. #Health #Care #Healthcare #Patient #DigitalCare
