One of the World Media Awards's specialist categories is for Brand and Media Owners. This is designed to recognise that when brands and media owners work together on content initiatives, special campaigns, events or other partnership-based promotions, the effective uplift for both brands can be powerful. Last year, we had entries from BIRKENSTOCK and New York Times Advertising, DP World and Economist Impact, Kyndryl and Economist Impact, and Target and REMEZCLA. Our jury will be looking for clever brand partnership matches, innovative thinking and effective implementation for an international audience. Do you have a campaign that meets the criteria? I love sequential messaging. It's such a clever way to weave a story. And these Time covers are a masterclass in doing that. The first was published a few weeks back. The second was published yesterday. Scroll between them to get the full effect. But while the combination of them is brilliant, each of image tells a clear story on its own. The same principle applies to sequential brand ads. We can't rely on multiple exposures to land a single message.

“We're appalled at the 16-year sentence…all of this is based on false charges, a sham trial and lies.” Almar Latour, Publisher of The Wall Street Journal and CEO of Dow Jones, joined PBS Newshour anchor Amna Nawaz to discuss last week’s wrongful conviction of our colleague, WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich. Evan has been wrongfully detained for 483 days–each day an outrage. We will not rest until he is home. Please continue to share Evan's reporting and the latest updates on his case by visiting wsj.com/Evan. Great column from Omar Oakes at The Media Leader UK, on the need for trusted media, the hypocrisy of advertisers supporting X, and the insanity that is 'brand safety'. Great to see Conscious Advertising Network's Jake Dubbins quoted on potential solutions too. Here's an even simpler solution - invest your advertising budgets in trusted, regulated media outlets staffed by professional journalists. Easy. #trust #brandsafety #journalism

"Oh, please, I don't want to talk about politics." I hear you, especially on LinkedIn. But this is directly relevant to your job prospects if you work in advertising/media! How can you avoid it when media owners like Elon Musk donate millions to Donald Trump and newsbrands make it their business to openly support politicians and political parties? The uncomfortable truth is: you can only have a "non-political" stance when political candidates abide by certain democratic norms that we take for granted. Our industry DEPENDS on democratic institutions which provide for (some) free speech, regulated markets, and the rule of law. Donald Trump is a threat to these institutions and a threat to this industry. He hasn't even conceded the last US election and his supporters stormed the buildings to overthrow the government. The evidence is in plain sight and, if he wins, he will be emboldened to go further and be even more corrupt. So you can't be pro-Trump and be pro-media. Under authoritarianism, there's only one truth and it's determined by whomever is in charge. Good luck with your social media influencer consultancy, or your Substack content marketing side hustle, when you can't even guarantee freedoms. As usual please read my The Media Leader UK column and I highly value your feedback, in the comments or privately to omar.oakes@uk.adwanted.com. https://lnkd.in/eJ2wZq3U
