Dave Wong, an Architectural Assistant in our team, has won the Best Overall Drawing Prize in London, for his 'hybrid drawings' created during his fourth year at The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL. In Dave’s own words: “My submission depicts the “Unity Hub” - a revitalisation project for Singapore, my home country, addressing cultural erosion and generational divides due to rapid urbanisation and past policies. This project attempts to merge contemporary architecture with traditional Singaporean practices using sustainable, regionally sourced CLT, featuring local community-centric spaces like a Hawker Centre and Intergenerational Areas. The hybrid drawings were produced using 3D modelling software for the base with manual detailing and colouring in Photoshop using a Wacom Technology Corp. tablet.” The competition, run by the The Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects (WCCA), was open to Part I and II students from all of London’s architecture schools. Dave W.’s win was celebrated at the WCCA’s Annual Awards Dinner last week.
