Brilliant day with The Conservation Volunteers at their Hollybush site in Leeds today. Such a buzzing atmosphere, loads of friendly staff and volunteers, a beautiful environment and ace cafe! It was a real pleasure to meet the team and I’m really pleased to be working with them on internal comms and engagement.

July is #NationalPicnicMonth, and what better way to celebrate than by saluting the #volunteers from our communities who unite to construct, maintain, and repair UK footpaths with us each year – giving access to both nature and our favourite picnic spots! #JoinInFeelGood with thousands of people and communities across the UK connecting to nature on their doorsteps and contributing to its protection: https://buff.ly/3Se5AQt *Figures taken from TCV environmental output stats 2022/23

Last week, we held our annual Managing Partners' Conference and Land Trust Awards in Essex. At the conference we welcomed Fiona Richards, Operations Director England at The Conservation Volunteers as our keynote speaker discussing volunteer and community engagement on greenspaces. Later in the day we took a fantastic trip to Canvey Wick, located on the Essex stretch of the Thames Estuary. Managing partners and Land Trust colleagues were treated to a bug hunt where they spotted a slow worm, and a tour around the reserve by site managers RSPB and Buglife. In the evening, it was the Land Trust Awards where we celebrated the amazing achievements from the past year across the Land Trust sites we manage together with managing partners, volunteers, and community groups. There were 12 awards up for grabs, with over 50 sites, rangers and volunteers shortlisted. Congratulations to all of this year’s award winners and well done to all that were shortlisted! Thank you to everyone who came along and contributed to the event, celebrating the amazing work delivered across the country. Back in March The National Lottery Community Fund awarded The Conservation Volunteers £449,552 for the next three years to continue the youth provision established by Tang Hall Big Local and to develop the outdoors elements of the programme based in Hull Road Park. Well now the election is over we can announce that the project went live on 1st July and the joint programme between North Yorkshire Youth, Choose2 CIC and The Conservation Volunteers, is underway - including a fantastic activity week in mid August. A huge thanks to our partners, to many local stakeholders and of course the players of the National Lottery without which there would be no funding for this and so many other vital projects.. A huge thanks to Nicola Marshall and the team from Welcome Break! Something a bit different today with the Welcome Break People Team…a community ESV day in #EmbertonCountryPark with #TCV The Conservation Volunteers and Milton Keynes City Council clearing the woodland for a new meditation area and forest school story telling area. A great opportunity to team build and work on ourselves, in the open and clear our heads, put our foot on the ball for a day and evaluate where we are at half year. A great start to the year for the team and so much achieved, but as always, still so much more to do! We love this round-up from Richmond! A huge thanks to all involved in the Health for Life School Wheelbarrow Competition 2024, from us all at The Conservation Volunteers... #JoinInFeelGood #BBCGardenersWorldLive
🌦Typical British weather – you never know what you're going to get! Luckily, at the June 2024 BBC Gardeners' World with TCV, the sunshine graced us (most of the time 🌞). 🌱As part of my TCV Work Experience at The Queen Elizabeth Community Gardens, I had the privilege of being part of the exhibitor team at this prestigious event. 🌿 TCV's popular wheelbarrow competition, now in its third year, is a fantastic way to educate children about sustainability, wildlife, and growing their own food. With 43 entries and over 600 participants, especially young people, it was inspiring to see such enthusiasm! 🌍 Environmental initiatives like these are a powerful force for positive change in young people's lives. They create a connection with nature, teach valuable skills, and encourage a sense of responsibility for our planet. It wasn't just about pretty flowers! 🌸 As a Geography student, I was particularly impressed by how the children's wheelbarrow displays integrated social and environmental impacts. The kids explored themes like local sustainability in gardening, the ecological impact of bees 🐝, and the broader effects of beef and cattle farming 🐄. This experience highlighted how TCV uses creativity to spark conversations about environmental issues and mental healrh with young people, connecting these topics to our daily lives. A big thank you to Rebecca Kibbler , The Conservation Volunteers , and everyone involved for the lovely event. #TCV #BBCGardenersWorldlive #MentalHealthAwareness #YouthSustainability #CommunityGardening #TheConservationVolunteers #MondelezInternational #ServiceForEductaion
