Working to bring action on SDG2 and the Global Goals
About us
The SDG2 Advocacy Hub coordinates global campaigning and advocacy to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2: To end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture by 2030. The Hub brings together NGOs, advocacy groups, civil society, the private sector and UN agencies to share expertise, ideas, and to collaborate on campaigns so that our overall impact as a community of influencers is increased. With 17 Sustainable Development Goals to achieve by 2030, the Hub offers a new game plan – a way of working that engages the largest group of diverse actors to work together on SDG2 priorities, while focusing on individual specialist areas of work that will ultimately meet the targets. The Sustainable development Goals and SDG2: Zero Hunger Adopted by all countries on September 25th 2015, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. For the goals to be reached, everyone needs to do their part: governments, the private sector and civil society. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years. However all goals are interconnected and the key to achieving one will often involve tackling issues that overlap with another. How the Hub works: The Hub offers strategic guidance on public engagement to the entire community working in and around SDG 2 by providing direction around global campaigns and support for grass roots, country-level initiatives. Members can network, access content, advocacy tools and campaign guidance via our online platform.

Yesterday in #Rio, #SOFI2024 report revealed that 733 million people suffered from hunger in 2023. It is unacceptable that global hunger is continuing to rise in 2024 despite the availability of solutions. This stark reality underscores the urgent need for action. We join #HungryforAction in calling on #G20 governments to step up their efforts and take decisive actions to end the #globalfoodcrisis. We cannot afford to see more #emptyplates when there are practical steps and resources that can be mobilized to ensure food security for all. With only six years to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially #SDG2 on ending all forms of hunger and #malnutrition, let's advocate for policies and initiatives that prioritize food security, empower vulnerable communities, and address the root causes of hunger. 👏 Terrific to see new announcement of initiative the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, led by 🇧🇷 Brazil #G20. A few highlights from today’s announcement👇 🍽 “Hunger has the face of a woman and the voice of a child,” says President Lula as he points the mortal imperative to get the right policies in place to tackle hunger and poverty. 🍽 World Bank's President Ajay Banga highlights the critical role of #IDA21 to deliver funding for the Global Alliance: “Hunger and poverty are intertwined – we see this Alliance as a cornerstone of the progress we can make”. 🍽 “We salute President Lula’s commitment and leadership,” says Director General of FAO QU Dongyu as he calls for greater science, innovation and financing to help smallholder farmers increase their production and livelihoods. 🍽 H.E. Wellington Barroso de Araújo Dias calls for endorsements of the Global Alliance, saying: “ending hunger is fully accomplishable – we need to build the political will.” 🔗 Watch it here https://lnkd.in/eRUUJT3N #G20 #G20Brazil
