Founder, Next Big Thing - demystifying AI and the next internet. Founder, Women of Web3. Formerly at Meta.

Meet Mike Russell (not to be confused with 'mic rustle' which we did have issues with at The Podcast Show!) Audio expert turned AI educator, big name YouTuber and all-round nice human. Embarrassingly when I asked him to be on Next Big Thing podcast, I'd only seen the YouTube he started in the last 3 months called Creator Magic (which helps creators with AI tools!), so I didn't realise his main channel has a cool 339k subscribers. Basically I thought I'd found some undiscovered gem and turns out everyone else has too 😅 Most importantly - you HAVE to hear his voice as he's the voice expert - go listen to his episode now I'll link it below!

A seriously special evening ✨ This month at ID8 I was one of 8 speakers talking for 8 minutes about an idea to change the world. My idea? 'Women need a seat at the table when it comes to AI' (It's simple, yes. But easy? No) It was a real honour to be interviewed on stage afterwards by the Head of TED, Chris Anderson, about what might make the biggest tech and AI companies of the world pay attention and do something to address this 👇 Thank you Anna Anderson for curating such a special set of speakers!

🚀It has been an incredible two weeks for AI in London. Starting with the collaboration between Google and the Next Big Thing focusing on how AI can power people. My key highlights from the event ✨Lauren Ingram from the Next Big thing (formerly Women of Web3 ) talked about the need for diversity of thought in AI and the incredible opportunities to build the future starting with embracing AI as an attitude. ✨Becky McOwen-Banks MBA, founder of Plain, talked about the opportunities to augment human work enabling people to work smarter. I found the AI maturity model insightful for presenting a strategic approach for AI adoption skills as well as the recommendations on building a culture of innovation, continuous learning and collaboration. ✨Kate Ross talked about her journey with eightfour and presented incredible campaigns in tech mobility. It was amazing to see the art of possibilities and how the AI model can deliver bespoke brand content. An opportunity to revolutionise the industry. ✨Benjamin (Haïm) Sadik from Google talked about the latest updates from Google IO. To an immersive London Tech Week 2024 ✨I was inspired by the panel discussion on AI Transforming the Efficiency of Startups with Nicole Quinn Carlos Espinal and Ann Hiatt ✨There was also a wealth of insights on latest innovations, AI solutions and insightful recommendations from industry leaders. An amazing celebration of all things tech! #AI #NextBigThing #GoogleIO #WomenOfWeb3 #LondonTechWeek #LTW2024 #LTW24 #AI #Tech #TechUK

Apple announced the new Apple Intelligence software on their devices & these are some of my favourite features 👇🏼 📧 The Mail app has lots of new features like ‘priority messages’ which is a section at the top of your inbox showing the most urgent emails, then they made a new ‘summary’ feature where it summarises the contents at the top of each email and they’ve also added ‘smart replies’ that suggest responses to your email. 🔔 ‘Priority Notifications’ collate all your most important notifications at the top of page and also summarise each notification so you can respond to them quicker (This may be my favourite one, will never miss a text again!) ✍️ In the notes app, users can now record, transcribe and summarise audio. Similar to other software you may have used, you can record your next meeting and once the call ends, it will create a summary for you! 💁🏻♀️ Genmoji… they’ve taken emojis to a whole new level where you can now type in a description of the emoji you want and it will create multiple emoji options that fit your request. 📷 They’ve made searching your photos even easier (hello 200k photo album🫣) by making their search feature more detailed and also allows you to search in videos! On top of that, they’ve added a ‘clean up’ tool where you can now remove things in the background of photos. & what’s wild is those are just a few of the many new AI features they’ve added! Let me know if there’s any you’ve seen that stand out to you or what you’d use the most 👇🏼

A group of former OpenAI employees are speaking out about a working culture that isn't prioritising safety: Jan Leike who led OpenAI's alignment team says that "safety culture and processes have taken a back seat to shiny products". We need to pay attention to who is building the products, and making the decisions, that will affect everything that comes next. https://lnkd.in/eKRWbuer
