Retail Luxury Goods and Jewelry

Crafting beautiful leather goods that are made to last.

About us

Established in Somerset in 1971 around a kitchen table, Mulberry has grown to be the largest maker of luxury leather goods in the United Kingdom. With a bold contemporary take on British heritage and a focus on responsible craft, our ambition is always to create progressive luxury pieces that are made to last. Sustainability has been at the heart of Mulberry since its inception, and in 2021, to mark our fiftieth anniversary, we launched our Manifesto. In it, we detail our commitment to be transformative in our thinking and actions in every area, from sourcing and manufacturing, to production, to our relationships with the communities around us. The Manifesto provides the foundations of its commitment to a regenerative and circular supply chain by 2030 – only then can we be a business that truly is Made to Last. Believing our bags should have long – if not multiple - lives, Mulberry offer customers artisanal repair and restoration services at our Lifetime Service Centre in Somerset. In 2020 we also introduced two new propositions: The Mulberry Exchange, a circular resale platform offering authenticated pre-loved Mulberry bags, including rare and archive styles, and Buy-Back, a service allowing customers the opportunity to trade in their existing Mulberry bag for credit towards a new purchase. Mulberry may now be a global brand, currently made up of over 1,200 employees all over the world, across offices, stores, and factories, but our values remain the same. As an equal opportunities employer, we are committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the workplace, and we focus on improving our impact on people, as well as the planet.

We are pleased to announce that our near-term Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).  This validation confirms that our targets are based on the latest climate science and meet the urgent need of the Paris Agreement to keep warming to 1.5°C. In recognition of the significant role leather plays in Mulberry's product offering and our commitment to supporting regenerative agricultural practices, we also set a specific Scope 3 target using the SBTi’s Forest, Land and Agriculture (FLAG) Sector Guidance. This SBTi validation builds on our progress towards our Made to Last Manifesto, which was a commitment made in 2021 to transform our business to a regenerative and circular model, with a view to achieving Net Zero GHG emissions by 2035. We're proud to announce our brand new Chinese flagship store in Plaza66, Shanghai, which opened at the end of last month to the public for the first time. The store interiors, designed by Studio Toogood, features sumptuous and tactile furnishings inspired by the English countryside – from bespoke wallpaper based on British landscapes to decorative Mulberry Green ceramic tiles, which also extend to the store’s exterior. Visitors to the store will be able to shop the full range of Mulberry products across both men’s and women’s collections, as well as select styles from our pre-loved range, which last year launched in China for the first time. Plus, from the 17th to the 20th of May, customers can join us in-store to celebrate 520, by sending bespoke postcards – featuring artworks designed by illustrator Jiatong Liu – to their loved ones, via our Mulberry Pimlico postbox.

Today is World Leather Day and we're happy to celebrate this year's theme of "Repair, Reuse, Repurpose" as we honour the enduring legacy and versatility of leather.   Founded to raise awareness about the sustainability and positive attributes of leather, World Leather Day is an initiative created by the Leather Working Group and Leather Naturally, with the aim to foster a deeper understanding of the leather industry by showcasing its craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability.   No one does leather like Mulberry; it's been at the heart of our business since our founder Roger Saul began making leather accessories at his kitchen table using offcuts and scraps in 1971. Today, we're the largest manufacturer of luxury leather goods in the United Kingdom, crafting objects that are made to last and be passed on to the next generation.   At Mulberry, sustainability underscores everything we do. Leather plays a pivotal role in our commitment to circularity, showcased through initiatives like our Repairs Service and The Mulberry Exchange, our circular exchange programme, which see our in-house artisans breathing new life into pre-loved pieces, ensuring every Mulberry bag can live many lives.

It Started With a Lock This May, we’re spotlighting the locks that have become as synonymous with Mulberry as our iconic bags themselves. In a series of stills shot by celebrated photographer Esther Theaker and styled by Isabelle Sayer, three models (Celina Ralph, Guinevere van Seenus, and Ajok Daing) are captured sporting modern classics – including our latest icons the Lana and the Pimlico – and juxtaposed with closely cropped images of each bags’ hardware. These locks act as symbols of Mulberry’s evolution: dynamic and bold, but with a quintessential and inimitable Britishness. Much like Britain, over the years our hardware has evolved – referenced, refreshed, reimagined – but the hallmarks have remained the same: secure, classic, and made to last. On Monday, our CEO, Thierry Andretta, led a discussion on sustainable development at Shanghai Fashion Week's M Space forum. Invited by the Shanghai Fashion Week Committee, Andretta tackled 'Decoding the Sustainability Mindset of Mulberry and Chinese Consumers', moderated by @Dan Cui, former Editor-in-Chief of GQ Style China, and founder of sustainable fashion platform CanU.   Andretta underscored our commitment to sustainability – ingrained in our DNA since day one – and emphasised our ethos of not passing on any extra costs to customers. He highlighted the importance of localised strategies in luxury brand development; China's progress in sustainability over the last five years; and the role of digitalisation in achieving industry sustainability, noting our proactive adoption of digital advancements.   Addressing evolving consumer attitudes in China, Andretta noted a shift towards mindful consumption and a preference for quality, craft, and timeless luxury items. Stressing transparency, he emphasised the need to further share our sustainability progress with Chinese consumers, especially in light of their heightened interest amidst the climate crisis.   Looking ahead, Andretta acknowledged the transformative potential of AI, which Mulberry aims to leverage to accelerate and enhance our sustainability efforts. #MulberryEngland
