HTA Design has secured planning permission for a new, climate resilient garden in Regent's Park to commemorate the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Collaborating with The Royal Parks, horticulturist Noel Kingsbury, and Tate + Co, the garden will significantly boost biodiversity in the park. Key features include a circular pond enhancing wildlife habitats, a central promenade with an accessible platform over the pond, and a vibrant flower garden showcasing species significant to the late Queen. A disused water tower will be transformed into an accessible viewing platform with panoramic views serving as a unique educational tool for visitors to explore the natural oasis of the new garden and the wider park. Katharina Erne, Associate Senior Landscape Architect, HTA Design said: "We are honoured to be working with The Royal Parks on the design of such a significant new garden to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II, right at the heart of The Regent’s Park. The design transforms a brownfield site into a stunning, biodiverse and climate resilient garden for the public to enjoy for many years to come.” To find out more about the project head to our website. https://lnkd.in/d7ACsN57 Check out the latest press here: https://lnkd.in/eGTNfuwB

Green light for the first phase of Crystal Palace Park, a project we are leading alongside a team of specialist consultants. The proposals will restore historic features, including the beloved Grade I Dinosaur sculptures and the Grade II listed Italian Terraces. Beyond these improvements, the landscape proposals will focus on bringing back the horticultural wonder to the park through biodiverse meadows, paleo-inspired planting, and wildlife-attracting shrubs and herbaceous species. This £17.5m phase forms part of the wider plan to reinvigorate the Grade II* listed park, led by the London Borough of Bromley in partnership with Crystal Palace Park Trust. Natalia Roussou, Landscape Design Director at HTA Design said: “This is a major step towards the Regeneration of Crystal Palace Park, taking us closer to reimagining Britain’s parks as climate resilient, biodiverse and accessible spaces for all. By celebrating and protecting the site’s historic significance through the restoration and unearthing of its beautiful listed features, the proposals will re-establish one of London’s legacy parks as an international destination.” To find out more about the project check our website https://lnkd.in/epj7jU8i Featured in the Architects’ Journal https://lnkd.in/eBJb53Bs

“Paxton tried to capture the notion of time when he designed Crystal Palace Park, I think as landscape architects it's very important to work with this fourth dimension rather than try to design landscapes as a fixed layout at one point in time… to design landscapes that can cope with change” Natalia Roussou talks climate resilience, versatile planning, and of course dinosaurs with David Taylor for NLA’s Five Minutes With… Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dVbQFyva

Greenford Quay has won the Urban Habitat Award of Excellence and is shortlisted for the overall winner of this year's Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) awards. Greenford Quay is an exemplar for modern cities and is on course to deliver 2,118 homes along with commercial and community spaces. The scheme is remediating a piece of derelict industrial land and breathing new life into a previously inaccessible stretch of the Grand Union Canal. A new pedestrian footbridge, nature-rich landscape, and amphitheatre have transformed the area and are already popular with residents and visitors alike. Greenford Quay fosters a strong sense of community, prioritises sustainability through innovative construction methods and significantly enhances residents' quality of life, setting a benchmark for future developments. HTA recently played host to the Property Development Book Club’s Summer Party at our Hackney Wick studio. The event provided a valuable platform for seasoned experts and aspiring talent in the built environment industry to network, exchange ideas, and share experiences. For those who couldn’t join on the night, a video recording will be shared by the Property Development Book Club soon and the panel discussion will be available on their podcast. Congratulations to Adewole Ademolake for a successful night filled with interesting conversations and new connections. It was a pleasure to host the Property Development Book Club in our studio. We are proud to have supported PDBC alongside sponsors Goodman Masson, Featherstone Homes Ltd (South East), Pointe Michel, and A'lake. 75 Wallis Road shortlisted in this year's AJ Retrofit and Reuse Awards! HTA Design transformed a Victorian warehouse in Hackney Wick, built in 1868 to manufacture the world's first synthetic plastic, into a modern and sustainable workspace for its 200 London-based staff. The design preserved the building's character while connecting its four separate structures by adding mezzanine floors, staircases, and roof lights. A focus on sustainability includes a holistic energy strategy, renewable energy sources, and facilities to encourage low-carbon commuting. Beyond providing a functional and inspiring workplace, HTA is committed to engaging with the local community, demonstrating the potential for adaptive reuse to revitalise urban areas and create positive social impact. https://lnkd.in/en-sj2fg Architects’ Journal #reuse #retrofit #75wallisroad #sustainability
