A huge thank you to Alfredo Caraballo and Daniel Elsea at Allies and Morrison, and Jae Shin at Hector Urban Design, for presenting such beautiful work and engaging in such thoughtful conversation with our Columbia University GSAPP Urban Design students. And a big thank you to Sean A. Gallagher and Diller Scofidio + Renfro for lending us your beautiful space. What an inspiring way to kick off the design exploration phase of the studio!

Our Gabriela Martinez did a great job representing the Allies and Morrison Design Technology team today at the Women in BIM conference. Gabi presented our research on material passports, and the importance of (good!) data in driving a circular economy. Thank you to the organisers for arranging a great event.

Passport to a circular future? Rethinking the value proposition of BIM and data collection across a building’s lifetime. Read a new research piece on the website from Ciaran Garrick and Romain Bigaré in our Design Technology team on our collaboration with GPE. Our research has been exploring the role material passports could play in providing a framework for material reuse, supporting a wider conversation on whole life carbon management and helping the built environment to a transition towards a circular future. #circularity #materialpassports #sustainability #designtechnology #innovation

Wonderful to see John Bradfield Court, Darwin College, University of Cambridge, receive a RIBA East Award 2024. A blend of conservation and the contemporary; this project combined the restoration of the 18th century Old Granary into student rooms with the design of a new multi-purpose space to suit the breadth of college life; from meditation to performance. Pleased to share that 20 Water Street, a workplace building we designed within our Wood Wharf masterplan, has been selected as a finalist in The BREEAM Awards 2024, demonstrating how sustainability is being addressed for an emerging neighbourhood. Congratulations to the wider design, construction and client teams with a special mention to Sweco as sustainability consultant.
