As many of you know - I am dyslexic and like many have struggled to read and absorb words in the same way others do. I have come up with my own ways of dealing with it and now love reading. I recently did the How I Became Podcast podcast and while my dyslexia came up, I also referenced some books that have helped me on my journey. There has been a lot of positive feedback from you all,  which I am humbled by - thank you. In response,I thought I would create a list of the books I mentioned and a few others too. Enjoy, comments and other suggestions welcome, we are all still learning after all ;-)   Creativity "Creativity Inc" by Ed Catmull. If you love the Pixar films, you will love this book which is part history and in part education on the creative process at the studio which has lessons for us all. "The Creative Act" by Rick Rubin. More a selection of thoughts on creativity from the man behind many great music acts. Insightful and thought provoking. "How to write one song" by Jeff Tweedy. If you are already a fan of the Chicago based band Wilco then you will know Jeff. This is a wonderful, witty guide to writing one song, with learnings across the creative process. "Humanise" by Thomas Heatherwick. A passionate call to arms from one of the UK’s great designers where he focuses on the need to humanise our environment and move away from building soulless spaces. Business and Entrepreneurship "Shoe Dog" by Phil Knight. Great story about how Nike was created. In some ways a good alternative to the many more recent tech based entrepreneurship stories. "Range" by David Epstein. A book about how generalists thrive in this world. Some great examples and for entrepreneurs a fascinating take on the world.Resonates with me,with the range of jobs I have had and the learnings gained. "Second Bounce of the Ball"  by Ronald Cohen - in my view the best book on Entrepreneurship I have read. Published a while ago but great insights still and examples again from the pre internet world which are insightful "The Promises of Giants"  by John Amaechi OBE. One of the best recent books on leadership. Also at a time when leadership in industry is not perhaps as discussed as it used to be, a great grounding for leaders and great suggestions too. "Be more Pirate"  by Sam Conniff. A wonderful book getting you to rethink the way you look at things. Some great insights on Pirates ! I was originally cynical because of the subject but have re read many times and keep recommending !

Hi everyone - so much of my current life involves talking about journeys after all its at the heart of what we do here at Uber. Also on a personal level, as my career has developed, and I have got a little greyer, my own journey seems to be interesting to many of you. After all ,I did not stay in one place ;-) and I have been lucky to work with great teams at great brands At the beginning of this year we at Uber Ads really wanted to tap into this idea of sharing personal journeys which is why we became the first sponsor of How I Became Podcast hosted by the fantastic Charles Parkinson and Ashley Samuels-Mckenzie . We then discussed if I should go on the show and I agreed. What a wonderful experience, even though we went across a range of memories and times including some of the tough ones for me. A thank you to all the teams I worked in and for, across this time, without you all my story would be nothing.
