To solve global health problems we need both connection and collaboration between health, pharma and payers. Last week Latief Ziada and I attended HLTH Europe, where 3,500 people from across the world of healthcare came together — patient groups, life sciences organisations, DTx companies, health system representatives, policy makers, consumer health brands. Having all these people in the same room facilitated valuable, joined-up and productive conversations where everyone had a voice. Some stand out themes were on humanising healthcare, embracing diverse perspectives, integrating data and AI, and the practical steps for enabling digital innovation. Well done to the HLTH team for levelling up the conference experience. Space to connect, endless food options, The Libertines playing on the last night and even a hair salon! Our latest research identified organisational structure and mindset as one of pharma's biggest internal barriers to digital adoption and transformation. 58% of business leaders said that teams are not joined up and silos persist, despite attempts to engender greater cooperation, and 38% said that mindsets and ways of thinking need to evolve further to enhance digital impact. When we asked 100 digital decision-makers from leading pharma orgs about the types of primary research they undertake in the context of their digital solutions, the top 3 responses were: 🗣️ 72% focus groups 💻 62% online feedback requests 📊 58% audience surveys Only 33% said they conduct one-to-one interviews with customers. This presents an opportunity for teams to gain a deeper level of customer insight and connection through one-to-one interviews and other qualitative research methods. This can be particularly key for patient-facing products and digital health initiatives, where we need to understand the full context of the patient experience to create successful, impactful interventions.
