Southampton, 18th June 2024 — North Star, specialist vessel operator for offshore infrastructure support services, has been announced as the first mover on the Midi-SOV – a new offshore wind ship design developed by trusted pioneer of next-generation vessel design, Chartwell Marine Ltd and VARD, one of the world's leading designers and shipbuilders of specialized vessels. Last week, Chartwell Marine Ltd, VARD, and industry first adopter North Star, held a collaborative evening working group on Wednesday 12th June at the The Royal Southern Yacht Club during the Seawork boat show. Over 50 offshore wind developers, turbine manufacturers, and supply chain representatives attended. The event was hosted in an "Art Gallery" format with drawings, diagrams and renderings on display. Individuals reviewed and critiqued the design, offering direct feedback on its strengths and areas for refinement to enhance the operational capability of the Midi-SOV.

We have been selected by VARD GROUP AS to construct a Chartwell Marine Ltd Daughter Craft to be installed on a VARD 4 19 CSOV under construction for Purus Wind. The 12m catamaran daughter craf features a twin IMO Tier-3 Volvo Penta IPS propulsion system to reduce emissions and provide good performance when deployed from the CSOV. Ben Colman, Director of Diverse Marine: “I am very proud of this contract award, something different for our small boats team of the back of small military craft, amphibious CTV, survey vessels and a fast passenger vessel. As PARKOL MARINE ENGINEERING LTD make great progress on North Eastern Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority's Newbuild, David McCandless and Ian Davies are looking to find a new home for their previous Patrol Vessel; "North Eastern Guardian III" Built in Finland in 2007, to UK Workboat Code standards, ‘North Eastern Guardian III’ is a 26m aluminium hulled, semi displacement vessel, operational since October 2007, powered by twin Caterpillar C32 1044 KW engines. The vessel has been maintained to an excellent standard with various items having been replaced throughout the lifetime of the vessel.
