Yesterday, we held the fourth edition of our CEO Roundtable series for the year, an invite-only event for C-suite leaders in BESA membership. Our guest speaker, Warwick Mansell, shared his investigative analysis into Government procurement practices during and since the pandemic and how the incoming Government may be looking to reset the Department's relationship with the suppliers sector. The leaders in attendance had the opportunity to put forward their questions and discuss the topic in detail, followed by a networking session. #BESACEORoundtable #CEO #EducationPolicy

A huge thank you to Julia Garvey and Dave Smith for the opportunity to attend the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) Summer Business Insights Day #SBID yesterday at The Kia Oval. Usually, my perspectives come from working on a Senior Leadership Team in a school and formerly for a Trust, so it was a real eye-opener for me to host a Table Talk on A.I. and hear first hand the challenges that educational suppliers are facing with this rapidly moving technology. Thank you to all the companies who attended the session for such open and honest conversations and for your professional generosity - I hope it was useful! It was fascinating to attend this event on the same day as the General Election and hear so many different opinions about what the future may hold for the sector. I really enjoyed chatting with Sarah Morgan Great Learners Trust about the EdTech Demonstrator Programme before her panel session (it's been far too long! 😊 ) and also hearing from some other excellent speakers including Stephen Morales - MA, FISBL, CertEd Trudy Spillane Lana Stoyles (Molloy) CMgr MCMI Simon Hill Dominic Norrish and Jon Andrews from Education Policy Institute. This was a packed day with a huge range of companies attending and so many excellent educators hosting the Table Talks. It was a joy to be able to catch up with Bukky Yusuf Naomi Toland Patrick McGrath Carrie-Ann Gibson Kat Cauchi Al Kingsley Chester Freitas Emily Ivey Michael Forshaw Hilary Power Ravi Patel Tilly Brooke Simon Blower Martin Bailey and so many others. Special mention to katy potts and Pip Bhol, who I have loved working with this year alongside Graham Macaulay LEO Academy Trust as part of the Digital Leaders 4 Sustainability programme with Institute of Imagination. I felt very lucky to share that spectacular The Kia Oval view with you and Bukky!!! Congratulations also to the winners of the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) Awards - it was fantastic to be able to celebrate your success before racing back to Denbigh High School, Luton to celebrate some amazing student successes of our own at Celebration of Excellence Evening!

🌟 Following another successful edition, we’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who joined us last week for the Summer Business Insight Day! It was fantastic to see so many of our members and partners, and engage in valuable discussions about sector opportunities, challenges, and what’s next for education at such a pivotal point in the year. Special congratulations go to the winners of the #BESAAwards2024. BESA is proud to celebrate the leading work of our members, and it was an honour to recognise the significant strides our members’ businesses are making in shaping the industry. We’d also like to thank all of our wonderful speakers for their insights; from roundtable discussions and deep-dives into school and MAT trends, to exploring ways of closing the procurement gap and the impact of the election, the sessions were essential for informing business strategy in the face of a rapidly changing educational landscape. Finally, thank you to all of our sponsors, including our headline sponsor, Wonde, keynote sponsor, Hyve Group, and BESA Awards headline sponsor Freeths and category sponsors STAEDTLER UK, FUNdamentally Children & Dr Gummer's Good Play Guide, EdTech Exchange and LendED. As the Election brings about a shift for the education sector, we can’t wait to continue to equip members with quality research, events, and the tools required to lead the way in the industry. We hope to see you again at a BESA event soon! #SBID2024 #EdTech #EducationPolicy #EducationConference

BESA SUMMER BUSINESS INSIGHT DAY 2024 Several years ago during my interview on Sophie Bailey’s EdTech podcast, I made a comment that there needs to be opportunities for educators to have direct conversations with EdTech companies as one way to produce tech based solutions that schools actually need. Fast forward several years. Last Thursday I hosted a table talk discussion as an educator with EdTech companies. We explored ways we can further improve outcomes for students with SEND. Our discussion covered many aspects including: ⭐ different aspects of SEND ⭐ how challenging it can be to provide differentiated EdTech solutions ⭐ challenges for mainstream teachers to find appropriate SEND solutions ⭐ suggestions to help SEND students to revise for exams When I was asked direct questions, it provided an opportunity to see my teacher's mind in action as I scribbled suggestions on my purple notepad! It also provided a chance to have follow up conversations to continue deeper reflections. The discussion was positively received and it gave me clearer insights about the recent challenges the EdTech industry faces. I hope the new government will lead the way in creating sustainable opportunities for educators and tech industries to work together so that we can co-create solutions to improve outcomes for SEND students. Throughout the afternoon, I loved catching up with many educators within the EdTech sector including Kat Cauchi, Al Kingsley, Leah K Stewart, Emma Darcy and katy potts. Thanks to Dave Smith and your team for organising a fantastic day and for inviting me to be part of it. Thanks also to the companies that have reached out to inform me of new EdTech solutions that could support the learning of SEND students. #BESA #businessinsightday #EdTech 📅 8 July 2024 _____________ My name is Bukky.
