Our Chair, Sarah Howard MBE, was at the first meeting of the UK Year of Service Business Advisory Council, yesterday, to hear Lord Blunkett talk about this great scheme. It offers 9-12 month placements for young people to gain skills and experience while earning the living wage. The programme aims to support thousands of young people to develop skills that the economy needs to support growth and contribute to their local communities. 👏 If you're a business that wants to get involved, then contact milly@ukyear.com

This was a promising first speech from Rt Hon Rachel Reeves, rightly targeting issues in our planning system and setting out a vision for the economic growth we all want to see. 👇
Businesses back the government's plans to fix the foundations of our economy and deliver economic growth across the UK. That includes British Chambers of Commerce and Associated British Ports.

Great to see our Director General Shevaun Haviland, and Business Council Manager Carol Vosloo, at the airside tour of Heathrow, along with other business leaders. As a founding member of our Business Council, and long-standing partner, we look forward to working together further. Thank you to Nigel Milton and the Heathrow team for the invite.
We were delighted to take some of our key business group partners British Chambers of Commerce , BusinessLDN, London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Make UK Institute of Directors (IoD) Logistics UK on an airside tour of Heathrow. Key highlights include: ✈️ Businesses and visitors can access 95% of the economy in a single flight from Heathrow, which helps make the UK an attractive place to come and do business. 🛃 Our work to make every journey better - including the investment we're making to upgrade our 146 security lanes making passenger travel safer, easier and more efficient. 📦 Our role as the UK’s only hub airport and largest port by value, we handle 70% of all UK air cargo by value. 🌱 We offer a world first sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) funding incentive for airlines. SAF is proven to reduce up to 70% or more of lifecycle carbon emissions. 🛍️ The UK is now the only European country without a proper tax-free shopping incentive. Re-instating a tax free incentive for tourists could offer £4.1bn in GDP and a net gain of £350m for the Treasury. We are thankful to our business group partners who attended and look forward to our continued engagement. 🗣 William Bain: "UK goods trade performance during May was weak, with the primary drivers in reduced EU trade being lower aircraft and automotive sales, in both directions. UK imports of chemicals and food from the EU were also noticeably lower and are worth keeping an eye on for future trends."
