About us
Best Beginnings is a national charity which embraces the power of evidence, collaboration, and innovation to give every child the best start in life and reduce inequalities in outcomes. Our aim is to improve the health, wellbeing, and life-chances of young children of all backgrounds, with a firm focus on tackling inequalities. Our work covers the crucial period from preconception to a child’s first birthday, where the evidence shows the foundations for a healthy and happy life are laid. By providing expert support and practical help, largely through our free parenting app, Baby Buddy, we give parents, co-parents and caregivers the knowledge and confidence to take good care of themselves and support them to build healthy, happy lives for their children.

We were delighted to be featured in a recent episode of BBC Sounds: 'When It Hits the Fan: Can Keir kill spin?', in a discussion of building public trust and working with the government to influence change ✍️ Our app Baby Buddy was mentioned as a trusted communication tool by governments to reduce the rates of still births and neonatal death 👣 You can listen to the full episode here: https://ow.ly/JNFH50SFWNY

🎓 Thrilled to share that I officially received my MSc in Women’s Health from UCL nine months ago, but had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate it at the Southbank Centre last week! ✨ I am incredibly grateful for the support of my amazing peers and family throughout this tough but rewarding experience. 💐 A special heartfelt thank you to my supervisor Suzy Buckley for her invaluable guidance on my dissertation, “First time solo mothers’ experiences of support: examining urban and rural differences in support use in the United Kingdom” 🚀 As I continue to work in the charity field with the wonderful Best Beginnings I am excited for all that is to come and for the opportunity to contribute to advancing women's health. #Graduation #UCL #WomensHealth #NextChapter

Best Beginnings reposted this
Men’s health is rarely a topic of discussion. We know that men’s participation in health interventions, seeking care and speaking about their well being is lower than it should be. This reports outlines so many aspects of men’s health that we need to focus on. For gender inclusive healthcare to be accessible, we need to unpick how we can create equity and equality for men, from all backgrounds. I remember reading #invisiblewomen and feeling like the perspective in that book is imbalanced and the nuance was not captured well. This report feels like it proving a missing piece of the conversation. Looking forward to supporting this campaign with Best Beginnings and #babybuddy.
Today marks the launch of our new report, The Real Face of Men's Health, outlining the real picture of men's health and its impact on society. Here's what you need to know: - Men are dying too young from mostly preventable reasons - Where men live has an alarmingly significant impact on how long they live - Men's health impacts everyone, not just men. But there's hope. By improving men's health, we can have a profoundly positive impact on women, families, and society. Healthier men means a healthier world. We've outlined clear steps for positive change, calling on government to step up. Let's change the face of men's health, together. https://bit.ly/4d2T1PB

It’s #BabyCommunicationWeek! 👶🗣️ Communicating with your baby is a way to improve bonding, and enables your baby to feel heard 💖 Babies are able to communicate what they want and need, long before they can talk, mainly through their cries. Some tips include: ✨Focus on connection rather than perfection with your baby ✨Remember YOU are everything your baby needs ✨Your newborn baby is your best guide! The Brazelton Centre is a national charity dedicated to supporting healthy parent-baby relationships though promoting an understanding of newborn babies’ communication.
