About us

Appear Here is the leading online marketplace for retail space. The mission: to create a world where anyone, anywhere can find space for their ideas. Over 250,000 industry-leading brands, designers and creative entrepreneurs are using Appear Here to find and book retail space. Appear Here lists over 10,000 spaces in the top retail destinations across the world, including London, Paris and New York. Everyone from global brands such as Apple, Chanel and Net-a-porter to innovative startups like Supreme, Spotify and Made.com, plus 1000’s independent brands and designers have used Appear Here to launch their ideas. To date, Appear Here has launched over 10,000 new stores. Appear Here is building a global network of the best retail spaces and working exclusively with some of the biggest landlords in the world including Land Securities, Hammerson and Westfield. Spaces listed on Appear Here include prime high street shops, underground stations, unique venues, major shopping malls and historic buildings. In 2015, Appear Here launched In Residence: a collection of spaces inside some of the world’s best boutiques, hotels and gyms. All spaces are exclusive to Appear Here and can be booked by the week or month. Traditionally it takes on average 3-6 months to book a shop. With Appear Here, it takes just 3-6 days to book a shop. The current record is seven minutes. The company was launched in February 2013 by 20-year-old Ross Bailey. The idea came from a pop-up shop Ross launched for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee called Rock and Rule. Realising how many people, like him, wanted a solution to renting retail space flexibly, Ross used the proceeds from Rock and Rule to launch Appear Here. To date, Appear Here has raised over $20 Million in funding from backers including Europe’s largest Venture Capital firm Balderton Capital, Octopus Ventures, MMC Ventures and Meyer Bergman. The team has grown to over 80 people with offices in London, Paris and New York.

No plans this weekend? If you're in London, you have to try Sharkbait & Swim. While I was at Appear Here, I had the privilege of meeting Stephen McClarty, the owner of Sharkbait & Swim. His story still inspires me every day. Stephen went from staying in youth hostels in South London to opening his own successful restaurant on those same streets. In Stephen's words: “I knew then, that if you put the work in, put the practice in, and give 100%: then you’re going to succeed.”

OFFLINE. What happened this week on our streets? We spotlight a few of our favourite shop openings, restaurants, events and pop-ups. rhode skin: At this point, the RHODE lip gloss phone cases have been imprinted onto everyone’s retinas after going viral, and now Hailey Bieber’s first-ever beauty pop-up in New York created a serious buzz - on the streets and on social media, with fans queuing for hours to sample new blush products, Cosmic Bliss ice cream, and hoping to catch a glimpse of the celebrity founder. ASICS EMEA: The shoe brand initiated its Paris Fashion Week presence with an exclusive friends and family event at their pop-up shop venue in Galerie Joseph. adidas Originals x solebox: During Paris Fashion Week, a teaser event in Le Marais previewed both the upcoming solebox store opening in Paris (July) and a collaborative Handball Spezial shoe. The event blended fashion and sneaker culture. Beigel Bake: Londoners rejoice. After closing down suddenly, the re-opening of this iconic Brick Lane establishment marks a significant moment for East London’s culinary landscape, reaffirming its status as a local institution. Oh My Cream !: The beauty brand expanded its London footprint with a third boutique in Marylebone. The launch featured an array of beauty experiences, including mini-facials and LED treatments, showcasing the brand’s comprehensive approach to skincare and also showcasing its continued strategy and focus on physical shops to connect to its consumers. Café Canelé: This new coffee bar and canelé shop in south Antwerp offers a unique blend of industrial and minimalist design with a warm, colourful touch. Serving organic, homemade canelés in various flavours alongside hot and cold drinks, it’s a testament to artisanal craftsmanship and interior design. Feeling inspired? www.appearhere.co.uk

If you might not be here tomorrow - what would you do today? Meet David and Ria, the husband-and-wife duo behind the now cult-like deep dish pizzeria and wine bar in Notting Hill Ria's. In just a few months since opening, they’ve managed to create a status many would be jealous of. There’s waiting lists each week and dishes selling out routinely each night. But there’s no Michelin star chef in the kitchen…what makes Ria’s so unique is David and Ria manage, run, and lead it with something unique - compassion. Why? David and Ria appreciate the value of time, patience and ultimately - love. David has Cystic Fibrosis, and Ria earlier this year had a breast cancer scare, which luckily has been confirmed as benign. Re-wind a year ago and the duo were working in very different roles - David worked in finance at Deloitte and Ria at fitness tech start-ups. And yet they both knew they wanted more. And by more, they wanted real authentic experiences that added value to themselves and the lives of others - the result? Ria’s. Read the full interview. https://lnkd.in/enkSVGjC

Thank you WWD for featuring our Ledbury Road space in Notting Hill, and of course, the incredible Greek jewellery brand YSSO. Swiftly seen on Hailey Bieber and Jourdan Dunn, YSSO is behind some of the most Instagram viral chunky gold earrings. Designed and handcrafted in Greece by mother Stalo (previously an archaeologist) and sold in London by daughter Alexia (lawyer turned Creative Director), YSSO prioritises local and recycled materials and uses environmentally conscious production techniques. The idea behind their current Notting Hill shop is to present their collection and share a platform with other female artists; To do so, they invite one brand every week, rotating every Monday, to use half of their space and present their story. In just two months, YSSO is planning to include a total of ten female-led brands within their space. Their latest collaborator was Ett Hem, a design-led brand leading a new generation of sustainable, forever flowers. Gold jewellery and a forever-lasting bouquet? Do explore YSSO’s space and visit them at 79 Ledbury Road, W11 2AG!

Making subscriptions yummy...And a little sexy. In just three short years, and one pandemic later, Nonna Tonda, the pasta subscription service that delivers freshly made treats direct to your door, has grown from a team of two to over 60, established a new London HQ, deliver nationally, and have thousands of subscribers, plus they’ve now launched multiple pop-ups across London. How did the husband-and wife duo achieve this? They kept things simple. We visited their Notting Hill pop-up to see co-founder Rebecca (who takes care of marketing and operations whilst husband James focuses on product and branding) and talked about all things business, the power of brand and, of course, pasta.

From Tinie Tempah to The Tate… Ghanaian artist Koby Martin has achieved more than many of his contemporaries could dream of. He’s worked with Wretch, Tinie Tempah and Krept & Konan, as well as collaborated with the likes of Nike and Mercedes, not to mention his work being displayed at the iconic Tate museum…But for Koby, his painting is about something much larger - cultural legacy. Ahead of The London Design Festival, we spoke to Koby at his South London home where we talked about his love for developing his painting technique, nostalgia, his breakthrough moment and why recognition for any artists' work is more important today than ever before. From curating a cultural events night at London's iconic South Bank centre to creating a short film with steelpan legend Fimber Bravo it's clear Nicholas Daley's passion for music transcends the runway. Ahead of Notting Hill Carnival a few weeks ago, an event Daley takes as seriously as Christmas, we spoke to the fashion designer, craftsman and curator on his passion for preserving Caribbean culture, his childhood spent working on drink stalls during carnival, and why music acts as sonic therapy for all - no matter your background.
