You see this debated constantly in the agency world: who owns the stuff that's produced by AI? IP doesn't cover AI – and the law is simply unable to keep up with the speed at which AI has been advancing. It's a difficult beast to tame. "A lot of people don’t know that there are some differences between English law and US law around stuff that’s generated by these tools," says Sacha Wilson, partner at Harbottle & Lewis. Sacha has, unsurprisingly, recently been advising a lot of agencies and brands on the issues associated with using generative AI. (In fact, Sacha was kind enough to advise our audience at The Robots Are Coming on this very topic!) So in this month’s AI Whisperers we’ll be chatting to Sacha about the legal side of AI, including: > How to approach clear communication around AI with clients. > How to approach educating your team on the potential legal pitfalls and best practices. > The clauses that should go into your legal documents. > How to address privacy concerns, safeguarding client data and staying compliant with data protection regulations. 📆 Join us at 11am on Thursday 25th July for a deep dive into the legal landscape of AI, and how to approach what is quite the minefield in today’s modern world. Operations people, we see you 🫡 In the first episode of the Agency Hackers Podcast, we reflected on our agency operations conference – Clockwork. Agency ops rarely gets its time in the spotlight, despite being an integral part of agency life. Ian and Sophie discussed why that is, and the pressure it can create on the folks keeping the cogs turning. Missed the first ep? Pitching is a headache for most, if not all, agencies. But what if there was a way to 'ditch the pitch' altogether? 👉 That’s what Aaron Hutchinson did. (And he ended up £500k better off.) In 2017, Aaron saw Blair Enns, author of ‘Win Without Pitching’, speak at an IPA event. At the time, Aaron's agency, Across the Pond | B Corp™, was working in-house for Google as their video production agency. But they wanted to expand beyond Google and build more clients. The problem? "Quite frankly, we were just quite sh*t at pitching – and we were losing a lot." But everything changed when Blair got up on stage and told the room: "You don't have to pitch. No other industry pitches this way." (You wouldn’t ask someone who builds houses to build three before you agree to go hire them, so why should this be any different?) Aaron felt inspired. He picked up a copy of Blair's book and immediately began to soak up its principles. Things like: 1️⃣ Specialising in a particular market or service area, rather than trying to be a generalist. 2️⃣ Pricing on value, not time. 3️⃣ Being selective about clients, turning down work that doesn’t fit your expertise or business goals. (All in all, it gives agencies a LOT more control when it comes to winning work.) “We were really extreme – we said we were never going to pitch again,” says Aaron. “The whole industry is just conditioned to the idea that you have to pitch and I think people can't see beyond that." 👉 In the first year of using the WWP framework, Aaron's agency calculated around £500,000 of extra revenue. Simply by pricing differently. 📆 At 11am on Tuesday 23rd July, Aaron will be telling us exactly how it helped his agency grow AND lifted team morale. 🔎 If you’re sick of pitching and want an alternative route, then you'll want to hear what Aaron has to say. Digital Transformation for the Expert Economy

Keeping ahead of the robots can be exhausting. So it was a welcome boost at the end of today to be named as one of Agency Hackers Top 10 AI innovators. At the end of a day of talks by some seasoned experts it’s worth remembering that hardly anyone has been in this space for more than a couple of years. There’s still time to make ground. Agencyhackers have done a great job bringing in speakers that ranged from “how to think about AI” to real at-the-coalface practical advice. Oh, and tools. There’s always more tools. Thanks to whoever nominated me, and glad to know that my little experiments are bringing some value.

Corporate Identity Branding Expert. Founder. Judge. Speaker. Entrepreneur of the year.

Here’s my key takeaway after a full day of talks and workshops on AI with Agency Hackers 📋Give chatGTP your to do list and ask if it can help - the results are surprising! 😯Heyjen- which changes the language your are speaking in almost real time is mind blowing 💻 the right prompt to get accurate results is about 4x as long as I expected it to be - new mindset: treat it like briefing a freelancer. 💭 most inspiring quote was: Time is meant for relationships and creativity. From Fatima Ait Moulid Harry Dipple and I came out buzzing with insights and ideas! Thanks for a great event!

I made a blunder! I gave a live demo of LaunchLemonade🍋  😂😂 Who even does that? Technical difficulties, errors… everything that can happen, happened But! It worked! We built a copilot on the spot for a volunteer from the audience and others walked away with ones they built during the session! Will I do it again? 😂😂 Thank you Sophie Cunningham for being a brilliant host and Agency Hackers and Wix for having me. Also thank you to the volunteers and new LaunchLemonade builders 🍋🍋

There’s only an hour or so to go until my speech at Agency Hackers “The Robots Are Coming”. The room for the next presentation is filling up, which isn’t helping my nerves 😂 I’m looking forward to helping other agency owners unlock some potential for improved client performance from their digital marketing!
