We are excited and proud to share our latest work, an ambitious and innovative new collaboration - UKGrantmaking.org. The platform brings together data from regulators, funder accounts and data published using the 360Giving Data Standard to provide an interactive way to understand and explore grantmaking in the UK. It is a unique collaboration between 360Giving, the Association of Charitable Foundations, ACO - The Association of Charitable Organisations, UK Community Foundations, London Funders, supported by Pears Foundation and CCLA Investment Management Association of Charitable Foundations, the Association of Charitable Organisations, UK Community Foundations and London Funders, supported by Pears Foundation and CCLA. Launched today, it collates and analyses information available on grants made by UK grantmakers in 2022-23. Providing information on over £20bn of grants from across all grantmaking sectors to the voluntary, community and social sectors, UKGrantmaking is the definitive resource for grantmaking data and insights. Whether you are a funder interested in understanding the context your organisation works in, a charity developing strategies for fundraising, or a researcher/policy maker seeking to understand the trends in grantmaking, take a look at UKGrantmaking to help inform your work. The platform has been designed with interactive visualisations and tables that can be searched, sorted and downloaded, allowing easier access to insight into grantmaking than ever before. The research and analysis will be repeated annually and UKGrantmaking is intended to grow and evolve with each edition. It will enable 360Giving and partners to develop an approach to longer-term analysis that considers trends and provides a source of base data that can be used to “deep dive” into specific areas. We’re pleased that we have been able to bring partners together for this collaborative project to help us better understand grantmaking in the UK - and we’re excited to build on it in the years ahead. We’re proud that everyone can access this valuable data in one place for free, and that it is openly available for people to use for their own purposes. Sharing data in this way will make it easier for everyone to understand, to collaborate, and to support grantmaking to become more informed, effective and strategic. This data analysis would not be possible without the commitment of funders who publish their grant data openly so it can be used for collective research and analysis, so a big thank you to our community of 360Giving data publishers. Explore the platform and let us know what you think! UKGrantmaking.org #UKGrantmaking #OpenGrants #OpenData

One of our projects over the past couple of months has been to get the Foundation's grant making data onto the 360Giving platform. As well as providing us with some useful insights into our own grant making activities, this public access tool gives donors, other funders, and charities the ability to see all of our grants data. As one of our key values is transparency and accountability, this is an important part of demonstrating our values to our stakeholders, as well as being quite a learning experience for us too! https://lnkd.in/dBm_h-ar

📚 In case you missed it, UKGrantmaking.org was launched last week by 360Giving! The platform consolidates and analyses data on funding across all sectors in the UK. It is interactive and accessible, offering valuable insights into grantmaking activities. Key insights: ⭕ Over 13,000 UK grantmakers distributed more than £20bn in grants during 2022-23. ⭕ The majority of grantmakers are small-scale, distributing less than £1m annually. However, 207 grantmakers distributed over £10m. ⭕ Small charities, with incomes under £1m, received the majority of grants. ⭕ Charities registered and operating solely in London received one-third of the amount given to all charities registered in London. This launch marks a significant step for the sector. We fully support the use of data in the sector, and this a great example of how data sharing enables learning, collaboration, and positive changes in funding. Visit UKGrantmaking.org to explore the data more thoroughly 📊 Happy 9th Anniversary to the 360Giving family!

This is a fantastic resource from 360Giving. I'm particularly interested to see the large amount of spending on grants from UK DAFs especially compared to the number of providers. As this year's report is based on 22-23 data I'm looking forward to seeing how the DAF numbers change in the next report. Our experience is that DAFs are growing quite rapidly as a vehicle for giving so it will be interested to see whether that's reflected in the sector data. #DAF #grantmaking #philanthropy

🗨 "Our journey toward embedding transparency, accountability, and diversity within impact and evaluation has been marked by thoughtful deliberation, ethical considerations, and collaborative efforts. By participating in initiatives like the 360Giving open data publishing initiative, we demonstrate our commitment to contribute to positive change." 💬 In our latest guest blog, Johanna Haffenden (MSc, Dip. Cert.) and Ames Petzoldt of the Masonic Charitable Foundation discuss the key principles that drove them to responsibly share data on grants to individuals and their families alongside data on grants to organisations. With impact and evaluation as a catalyst, they explain how this work has helped them to drive forward transparency, diversity and accountability in their grantmaking. By publishing data on their grants to individuals, they sought to also better understand their role in the wider grantmaking picture and how they can actively contribute to positive change. You can also learn about some of the challenges they faced in the process of sharing anonymised data on these grants while being transparent, and how they found the right process for their organisation to achieve this – using 360Giving guidance as a roadmap, but adapting the approach to their specific needs and requirements. Read the new blog below – and if you’re part of an organisation that makes grants to individuals, take a look at 360Giving’s support options and get started sharing and using the data. https://lnkd.in/eWPiaZpR #OpenData #Philanthropy

360Giving is 9 years old today! 🎂 Last week we launched UKGrantmaking.org, and as we reach another anniversary we want to take the opportunity to celebrate how far we’ve come – and to thank some of the trustees and supporters who were with us from the start of this journey to make grantmaking in the UK more informed, effective and strategic. Over the past 9 years, we’ve developed the 360Giving Data Standard for sharing grants data, grown a range of support options for grantmakers who want to use it to share their data, created tools like GrantNav and 360Insights to search the data, and used the data to support our understanding of grantmaking and civil society in the UK through reports and analysis. 📈279 funders have published over 1 million grants worth over £265 billion! Over 70,000 people access and use this data each year. We’d like to shout out our amazing Trustees, Stewardship Committee members, partners, funders, supporters, and funders who share their data. We couldn’t have come this far without all of your support. As we look to the future with annual editions of UKGrantmaking, continued development of the Data Standard, improvements to our tools and more deep dives and analysis, we’d like to invite everyone to join us in what comes next. ➡ Take a look at the data and insights on UKGrantmaking.org – and if you're part of a funder who wants to be included next year and learn even more, take a look at our support options or get in touch to talk about how we can help you to share your data: https://lnkd.in/eXT7WDiw
