Shalini Pandey is known for her portrayal of Preethi in Vijay Deverakonda’s highly acclaimed film ‘Arjun Reddy’. The actress recently revealed how she was body-shamed by people and why she did not receive the attention Kiara Advani got in the Bollywood remake, ‘Kabir Singh’.
In a chat with India Today, Shalini said that she was body-shamed back then. She didn’t understand the language well as she was new to the South.
She also added that her managers at the time took advantage of her naivety and made her do things.

Shalini further explained that she was constantly trying to understand what people wanted from her. Despite having an athletic body, she still faced criticism from people.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, ‘Arjun Reddy’ gained attention for its plot and sensitive content. Many criticized the film for promoting toxic masculinity, while some supported Vijay's performance and its raw portrayal. The Hindi remake ‘Kabir Singh’ featured Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in lead roles, while the Tamil version starred Dhruv Vikram.
Shalini Pandey was recently seen in ‘Maharaj’ by Siddharth P. Malhotra, marking the debut film of Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan. She will next be seen in two projects, ‘Dabba Cartel’ and ‘Bandwaale’.
On the other hand, Vijay Deverakonda is receiving good responses from the audiences for his cameo role in the recently released film 'Kalki 2898 AD'. His short appearance as Arjun is being hailed by the audiences as one of the best cameo appearances in Indian films. The Prabhas starrer is also setting new benchmarks at the box office.
