NEW DELHI: Theni is one of the 39 parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu. It comprises six assembly segments: Bodinayakanur, Cumbum, Periyakulam(SC), Andipatti, Usilampatti, and Sholavandan(SC).

Theni went to polling in the first phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on april 19. With over 16 lakh eligible voters, the turnout recorded was 69.84%, according to the ECI data.
DMK's Thanga Tamilselvan wins against AMMK's TTV Dhinakaran with a vote margin of 2,78,825.

Highlights of the previous year Lok Sabha elections in the constituency:
In the 2019 elections, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) candidate Raveendranath Kumar emerged victorious in the Theni Lok Sabha constituency with 5,04,813 votes. The Indian National Congress (INC) candidate, EVKS Elangovan, was the runner-up with 4,28,120 votes.
Similarly, in 2014, the AIADMK candidate, R. Parthipan, won the seat with 5,71,254 votes. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate, Pon Muthuramalingam, secured the second position with 2,56,722 votes.
Vote share of major political parties in previous Lok Sabha elections
In 2019, the AIADMK candidate secured 43.02% of the votes, while the INC candidate garnered 36.48%. The voter turnout in 2019 elections was 75.27%

In 2014, the AIADMK candidate won with 53.11% of the votes, while the DMK candidate received 23.87% of the votes. The INC candidate secured 6.64% of the votes. The voter turnout in 2014 elections was 74.70%.
