NEW DELHI: The Sangrur Lok Sabha Constituency went to the polls in its seventh phase on June 1. The Sangrur constituency includes nine assembly segments: Lehragaga, Sunam, Bhadaur, Barnala, Mehal Kalan, Malerkotla, Dhuri, and Sangrur, and it is classified under the General category.
Geographically, it spans the entire Barnala district and a portion of the Sangrur district.As per the 2011 census, the population of the Sangrur Municipal Council was 88,043, with a literacy rate of 60.5% in the Lok Sabha constituency.

In the 2019 elections, Bhagwant Mann of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) triumphed with 413,561 votes. Kewal Singh Dhillon of the Indian National Congress followed with 303,350 votes. During the 2019 parliamentary elections, Sangrur had 1,529,431 registered voters, and 1,105,888 valid votes were cast. Bhagwant Mann secured a victory margin of 110,211 votes over Kewal Singh Dhillon.
