The state of Jammu and Kashmir is home to the Anantnag Parliamentary seat. Tral, Shopian, Devsar, Pampore, Noorabad, Doru, Pahalgam, Wachi, Pulwama, Kulgam, Kokernag, Bijbehara, Rajpora, Homshalibugh, Shangus, and Anantnag are the sixteen assembly constituencies that make up the Anantnag seat. There are roughly 1.3 million voters in the constituency, with roughly 685,000 men and 615,000 women.
JKPDP's chief Mehbooba Mufti was defeated by JKNC's Mian Altaf Ahmad by a margin of 2,81,794 votes.

The third phase of voting in the area was originally set for May 7, but the EC postponed it due to inclement weather that caused accessibility problems.

Anantang-Rajouri constituency finally went into polling in the sixth phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, on May 25th. Voter turnout was recorded at 55.40%. With 40,180 votes, Hasnain Masoodi of the National Conference defeated Mehbooba Mufti, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, and Sofi Yusuf of the Congress in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. 30,524 votes were cast for Mehbooba Mufti. Terrorist threats prompted a three-phase voting process. There were about 12.86% of voters. There were eighteen candidates running in the race.

Mehbooba Mufti, a former chief minister, won this seat as an MP twice in the general elections of 2014. By a margin of over 65,000 votes, she defeated Mirza Mehboob Beg of the National Conferences. Mehbooba got over two hundred thousand votes, and Mirza Mehboob got about thirteen thousand. With 7,340 votes, independent contender Tanveer Hussain Khan finished third. Mushtaq Ahmad Malik of the BJP finished fourth .
