In Nagpur, laborer Rahul Khairwar, 24, from Madhya Pradesh, died in a hit-and-run on Katol Road bypass near midnight
NAGPUR: Rahul Khairwar, a labourer, lost his life in a road accident while he was trying to cross Katol Road bypass road on his bike on Sunday night. According to the police, the plants and nearby bushes might have blocked Rahul Khairwar’s vision and perhaps also that of the accused.
“Khairwar’s bike did not skid after being hit. This means that the victim likely came under the rear wheels of the ‘killer’ vehicle.
Probably a high chassis vehicle hit Khairwar’s bike,” said an officer from the Gittikhadan police station. The bike would have been dragged for some distance if it was hit by a vehicle with a low chassis, he added.

“Several vehicles including heavy goods carriers and other transport vehicles take this particular road towards late evening. We are trying to identify the ‘killer’ vehicle based on technical investigation,” said an officer. Surprisingly, despite heavy traffic movement, the police control room was informed by an unknown caller after which a police team was sent to the spot.
Gittikhadan police have registered an offence against the unknown accused.
