Guwahati: In a collaborative effort, excise officials from Kamrup Metro district and Meghalaya unearthed a well-established illicit IMFL production facility in Meghalaya’s Ri Bhoi district.
The officials recovered about 1500 cases of IMFL, huge quantity of fake labels and holograms, extra neutral alcohol and blending vats (a large barrel or tank in which liquids can be stored).
Two persons have also been apprehended in the factory itself and cases have been instituted.
Assam commissioner of excise Jitu Doley said, “This is an action against not only blocking the revenue leakage, but has also stopped consumption of spurious liquor in the state. We have started operations against any kind of illegal trade of liquor.”
Earlier on Saturday, a team of Kamrup (Metro) officials busted an illegal liquor manufacturing unit in Kokrajhar. Officials said approximately 50,000 empty bottles, about 95,000 bottle caps, more than 50,000 fake holograms, about 6,000 mono cartons, caramel, ENA, steel tank used for blending and a machine used for fixing caps were recovered.
