🌲Tree Planting Day with Artelia Philippines 🌳   🌱 We partnered with Make-A-Difference Travel and visited their community at Mount Purro Nature Reserve in Antipolo, Rizal. The day started with an introduction to the effects of climate change in the Philippines, followed by the importance of planting trees to avoid floods and to support the livelihoods of the local Dumagat tribe.   ⛰️ Afterwards the group explored the nearby mountainous area and hiked to Malvar’s Peak, 419 meters above sea level! On the descent, the group created 93 seed postings - including seedlings of jackfruit, curry plant, and narra. These will later be planted once the soil is wet enough to ensure the survival of the seeds.   🌿 Tree planting improves the ability of our forests to sequester carbon, helps to mitigate the impacts of climate change, and improves air quality. Trees play a key role in capturing rainwater and reducing the risk of natural disasters like floods and landslides.
