Remember Matthew Tay, the 25y/o bus enthusiast who turned down 3 university offers to join Tower Transit Singapore in 2022? Looks like Matthew will be going to university after all. He will begin his studies next year under a TTS scholarship. Our aim is to advance both passion and profession for people like Matthew. On CNA938's new radio programme 'A Letter to Myself', Matthew shared a letter he would write to his future self: "Never lose sight of what makes you truly happy. It's easy to get caught up in the demands of daily life and forget the passions that ignite your soul. Remember that your happiness is a priority, not an afterthought." Listen to the full podcast to find out more about Matthew's journey.

[Singapore] 25-year-old bus captain Lee Wei Xian was operating service 858 at Changi Airport Terminal 3 on 21 May 2024 when his bus crashed into a road blocker that was wrongly activated (news article: https://lnkd.in/gvY98x9h). The accident caused him and his passengers to be flung forward. Wei Xian hit the steering wheel hard, fracturing his nose and hurting his chest. Thankfully, he has been discharged from hospital and is now resting at home. Together with union leaders from the National Transport Workers' Union, we checked in on him and brought him a balanced meal of chicken essence to facilitate his recovery and pizza to keep him in high spirits. We wish Wei Xian and our injured passengers a speedy recovery. We are still attempting to reach all the passengers and invite those involved to contact us at 1800 248 0950, feedback@towertransit.sg, or through social media.

Here's a sweet Mother's Day video (made by Ministry of Transport, Singapore) from last Sunday of bus captain Siew Chin and her daughter Le Xuan who had this to say about her mum: "I'm very proud of my mum as a bus captain because this job is really tough...without [bus captains], we would not be able to travel around Singapore so conveniently. I was particularly proud of her for receiving several compliment letters and Transport Gold Awards."
To the lighthouses of our lives, happy Mother’s Day. 🫶 Feat Bus Captain Siew Chin & her daughter Le Xuan. To Siew Chin, here's what Le Xuan told us... | By Ministry of Transport, Singapore | Mom is one of the lighthouses of my life. Through her, I got to know a different face of strength. The kind that is shown in kindness and restraint. The kind that is actually more difficult to practice. She i

Since 2015, Tower Transit Singapore has partnered the National Transport Workers’ Union (NTWU) on making our company a great place to work. Together, we’re building a people-first company culture where our staff feel valued and engaged. Part of this effort includes holding monthly town halls to gather feedback, annual events to bring our people and their families together, and free monthly massages and haircuts at our depots and interchanges. But the real work is in the everyday building of relationships and solving of problems, and this can't be done without a strong partnership between us and the union. So each year, we go on a retreat to take stock of our joint efforts, celebrate our wins and discuss our challenges. This year, we went to KL with NTWU’s Exec Secretary Bro. Melvin Yong, Deputy Exec Secretary Bro. Jimmy Wee, our Industrial Relations Officers and our union leaders. The result of this partnership is a Great Place To Work® Singapore certification where 76% of our employees say TTS is a great place to work. This is backed up by a recent staff survey where 83% are proud to tell others they work here. This is a joint effort and our thanks goes to NTWU for working with us to make TTS a great place to work! There is a special 'kampung (village/community in Malay) spirit' on the first bus of the day. Most of the passengers are regulars who are served by a regular bus captain. They board and alight at the same time, same place, day in, day out, for years. They may know one another only by sight, yet for a few minutes on the bus each day, these strangers become a community and look out for one another. This heart warming story explores the unique bond that is forged between our passengers and bus captains of the first bus.

Tower Transit Singapore, in partnership with Public Transport Council, has unveiled two ‘Care Buses’ adorned with artworks by children with intellectual and developmental disabilities from MINDSG Ltd Towner Gardens School and Rainbow Centre Admiral Hill School. The artworks depict people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in #publictransport settings and feature tips on how other commuters can respond to them in an inclusive way. The Care Buses are deployed on service 173, which serves YMCA-MINDS Bukit Batok, and service 859, which serves Admiral Hill School. But it takes a whole community to make bus rides inclusive, so we sent our bus captains on a visit to the schools to better understand these disabilities and better serve the students who take their buses. And as SEMBAWANG SECONDARY SCHOOL is also served by service 859, we conducted the Public Bus Inclusivity Course to equip its students to respond empathetically when they meet students of Admiral Hill School on their commute. #inclusivepublictransport #disabilityinclusion Read the news coverage on CNA: https://lnkd.in/gj8ZdQyG

The weather in Singapore this month has swung between a sizzling hot 36.2 degrees and torrential rains. Last week, we handed out herbal drinks to our employees, so they wouldn't feel under the weather (couldn't resist a pun). They've also got their very own TTS jackets to weather the storms (last one, promise) and keep them dry. #publictransport #employeeexperience #greatplacetowork

This Ramadan, over 400 Muslim TTS employees were each gifted with a 1kg box of premium ajwa dates courtesy of our kind sponsor Tamar Madinah. Its director Cik Dewi Suhadi visited the Mandai Bus Depot on the 1st of March to meet some of our Muslim employees and wish them “Ramadan Kareem”. According to Dewi, the sponsorship was made to bless our frontline workers who spend long hours on the roads, getting Singaporeans safely to their destinations, while fasting. On this eve of Hari Raya, TTS would like to thank all Muslim transport workers for your hard work throughout the fasting month! 🥰 https://lnkd.in/g_vQ_WWd

Private bus operators Tong Tar Transport and Leisure Frontier can now charge their electric buses at Tower Transit Singapore's Bulim Bus Depot as part of a 6-month trial by Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore. The trial will assess if the EV chargers can be efficiently used by private operators when they are not being used to charge public buses during the day.
