We're making your public transport commutes more seamless with the launch of our new partnership with Anywheel! Earlier today, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Anywheel to enhance first- and last-mile connectivity through bicycle-sharing. With this, passengers can now combine a bicycle ride with their bus or train commutes, providing them with greater flexibility, reliability and convenience for their travels. This initiative also helps to promote the use of public transport and contributes to reducing carbon emissions.   Here's what you can look out for:   - Bike Reservation: Reserve an Anywheel bicycle up to 30 minutes in advance exclusively on the SBS Transit app. This adds to the existing feature that allows users to check the real-time availability of Anywheel bicycles at bus stops.   - Monthly Giveaways: A prize bundle worth $100 will be given out to 25 lucky winners each month! To stand a chance to win, simply take selected SBS Transit buses (Services 16/16M, 57, 123/123M, 145, 195 and 400) and ride an Anywheel bicycle to get to your destination.   - Free Rides: Enjoy free Anywheel rides when you start or end your trip at Tampines East or Tampines West MRT stations on the Downtown Line.     Together, let's pedal towards a greener and more connected future!   More info: https://lnkd.in/gUFWux8p

Every year, we bid farewell to our Bus Captains who retire with a mix of joy and sadness. While we're thrilled for them as they embark on their well-deserved retirement, we also feel a pang of sadness to see them leave. These dedicated individuals have been the backbone of our public transportation network, safely and reliably ferrying passengers to their desired destinations every day, rain or shine.   "Being a Bus Captain isn't just a job; it's about bringing commuters on pleasant journeys," said 67-year-old Senior Bus Captain Low Kam Weng who will be retiring this September.   His journey with SBS Transit began in 1992, not as a Bus Captain, but as a delivery man. When delivering tyres to our depots, he had the opportunity to speak to other Bus Captains who shared the joys of their job and encouraged him to try it out.   "They told me to just give it a shot, so I did," he reminisced. Little did he know that this would be the start of his 32-year journey with us, where he forged many new friendships with his passengers and fellow Bus Captains.   With retirement on the horizon, he looks forward to spending more time with his loved ones who have supported him wholeheartedly throughout his career. He laughed as he recalled how his family members expressed their admiration for him, looking up to him for being able to drive such a huge vehicle and transport so many passengers at once.   We congratulate the 89 Bus Captains who have retired or will be retiring this year. THANK YOU for all your hard work and all the best in your retirement!

Since 2023, we have rolled out Waymap-SG, a free audio-based wayfinding app that aims to help visually impaired passengers navigate bus interchanges and MRT stations safely and independently.   The first-of-its-kind in the Asia-Pacific, the app stands out with its unique approach of utilising the phone's sensors to calibrate to the user's walking gait and speed. Moreover, users can opt for a step-free (barrier-free) mode for added safety, avoiding steps and escalators. The app also operates without the need for GPS, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signals, so it can easily be used both indoors and outdoors. Starting from mid-July, users can also check out bus arrival timings through the app!   Waymap-SG is currently being piloted at Tampines Bus Interchange and Downtown Line Tampines MRT Station, and is free to download from the App Store and Google Play.   We remain committed to making public transport and community spaces more inclusive and accessible. With Waymap-SG, we look forward to empowering our visually impaired passengers to travel confidently on buses and trains.

Early this morning, our staff were hard at work due to the late opening of the North East Line for the systems testing for the new Punggol Coast Station. From advising passengers on alternative travel arrangements to efficiently managing crowds at the various shuttle bus stops, our dedicated team, both on the ground and at our Operations Control Centre, worked tirelessly to ensure that everything ran smoothly. Thank you to our passengers for their cooperation and understanding this morning, and do have a great day ahead!

We were heartened to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with AWWA Ltd yesterday, solidifying our continued efforts to promote inclusivity in public transport for individuals with special needs. Some potential areas of collaboration that we are exploring include: - Providing students with opportunities to gain work exposure at our bus interchanges and MRT stations. For instance, the students can learn valuable communication skills by working as a station or interchange guide; - Empowering students to travel safely and confidently on public buses and trains through our familiarisation tours and CARES Community Bus programme; - Enriching passengers' travelling experiences by showcasing the students' artworks at our public transport spaces; and - Co-creating an authentic mobility learning space within the school complete with physical bus seats and bus stopping bells, providing the students with a safe environment to familiarise themselves with the features of the bus and learn how to travel independently. Following the signing ceremony, close to 40 students also had the chance to explore the ins and outs of our CARES Community Bus, where they learnt safety tips and proper commuting etiquette! Public transport is all about connecting people to their destinations safely and reliably, including those with special needs. We look forward to working closely with AWWA School to enhance the accessibility of our public transport system. Together, let's strive to create a more caring and inclusive society for everyone.
