Five years ago, deeptech startup founders Dr Stanley Wang and Dr Andy So incubated their solar panel rejuvenation technology and automated recycling services for solar panels at Energy Research Institute @ NTU (@ERI@N). Today EtaVolt Pte Ltd, an NTU startup, holds the world’s first patented technology that can prolong the operational lifespan of solar panels with a technology that can be applied onsite and, in the field, where most solar panels in Asia are placed. This made-in-Singapore technology is leading the photovoltaic circular economy with solutions to assess solar panels, protecting them from damage and increasing their operational lifespan, and eventually recycle them. At the 2024 IEEE Conference on Artificial Intelligence, Permanent Secretary for National Research Development, Professor Tan Chorh Chuan spoke about the rapid development of #AI technology and how #AI can be a force for good, that can uplift and empower people and businesses. The National Research Foundation Singapore has been driving and coordinating efforts to harness #AI to accelerate scientific discoveries and innovations. Since April, more than ten thematic workshops have been organised by #NRFsg, involving experts across both #AI and scientific domains such as Materials Science, Hybrid Quantum Computing, and RNA Biology. This initiative serves to both identify strategic opportunities to use #AI for R&D in these areas, and to foster stronger inter-disciplinary collaboration. Read #NRFsg AI for Science Scoping Study Report which highlights potential areas of opportunity for Singapore to embark on AI for Science initiatives at https://lnkd.in/gFw-UjP2 Don't forget to sign up for the AI for Science Nobel Turing Initiative Workshop in July at https://lnkd.in/gJWPVxGh

Taking a quantum leap towards tech innovation! 🌟 Singapore has just unveiled its National Quantum Strategy (NQS), marking a significant step towards becoming a global leader in quantum technologies. Announced today by Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Research Foundation Singapore Mr Heng Swee Keat at the Asia Tech x Summit (ATxSummit), this initiative aims to revolutionise Singapore’s tech landscape. For example, quantum computing can be enhanced to simulate complex molecules for drug discovery, optimise investment portfolios, and support cryptography. The NQS will achieve this by elevating the Centre for Quantum Technologies into a national centre, accelerate the transition of quantum solutions, attract, develop and retain top talent, and spur industry partnerships to foster a vibrant ecosystem. Funded by #NRFsg under the Research, Innovation, and Enterprise 2025 (RIE 2025) plan, the NQS will receive nearly S$300 million over the next five years. Led by the National Quantum Office and hosted by A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research, the strategy ensures robust coordination of Singapore’s quantum research, innovation, and enterprise activities. The NQS will set the stage for Singapore to harness the power of quantum🚀 to drive innovation and shape the future of society and beyond. More info in the comments 👇 The 2024 Asia Tech x Singapore is organised by IMDA and is held from 30 to 31 May. #QuantumLeap #TechInnovation #SingaporeTech #QuantumTechnology (image credit: IMDA)
