The Singapore Leaders Network (SGLN) recently marked its 2nd anniversary! Supported by EDB and the Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI), SGLN has doubled its membership to more than 2,000 members, creating a robust network of peers and mentors to support Singaporean business #leaders in their personal and professional growth. As part of the celebrations, Singaporean executives in the SGLN Fellowship programme had an engaging fireside chat with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. They discussed how corporate leaders can navigate an increasingly complex business environment, what Singaporeans can do to be ready for international #leadership roles and the importance of leading with empathy and open-mindedness. Among the participants was SGLN Fellow Sueann Yeo, CAIA, Head of APAC Private Wealth at EQT Group, who gave a thumbs up to the Fellowship programme for offering enriching perspectives from leaders of diverse industries. Sueann's mentor Savita Iyer, CFO of SEA for The Walt Disney Company, said she wished there were such programmes when she first started on her leadership journey but is happy to be able to give back by supporting up-and-coming corporate leaders. The SGLN Fellowship aims to equip Singaporeans with the relevant skills and experience to become global-ready leaders. There are currently 60 SGLN Fellows. Singapore’s small and medium-sized enterprises (#SMEs) are part of the thriving and comprehensive #semiconductor ecosystem here. They play an important role as suppliers (of solutions, services, materials and equipment) and co-innovation partners of global chip players. Local SMEs can tap on government support, such as the enhanced Partnerships for Capability Transformation (PACT) scheme, to help them navigate challenges in transformation and improve their capabilities. ELH Additive Manufacturing and Forefront AM are among the SMEs working with larger players like STMicroelectronics and GlobalFoundries. Through collaborations with MNCs, SMEs can expand their customer base and gain access to new markets, while building specialised #manufacturing capabilities to take on more complex jobs. For MNCs, the availability of strong local suppliers with relevant technologies helps strengthen their supply chain, ensuring that there’s minimal downtime in factories. Read about how collaborations between MNCs and local enterprises are strengthening the local semiconductor ecosystem and building a more resilient supply chain. #MatchMadeInSG

How is #Singapore partnering companies to build factories of the future? 1️⃣ By accelerating digital transformation: The Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) helps manufacturers create a roadmap to embrace Industry 4.0 technologies, so they can be more productive and competitive. 2️⃣ By driving #innovation through collaboration: Through research partnerships with A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research's Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC) and NAMIC Singapore, as well as collaboration with Singapore’s local enterprises, including a pool of 286,000 SMEs, global players can tap on a vibrant ecosystem to co-develop new and localised products and solutions. 3️⃣ Through #sustainability efforts: From improving access to renewable energy and strengthening the carbon services ecosystem to grants for emission reductions, Singapore is helping manufacturers and logistics players decarbonise and adopt green solutions. Manufacturing forms nearly 20% of Singapore’s GDP and provides jobs for almost 12% of the workforce. Singapore’s focus is on growing high-value sectors like semiconductors, healthcare, specialty chemicals and aerospace. High-quality datasets are essential for increasing the accuracy and trust of #AI models. #Singapore is partnering with companies to address this need through AI Singapore’s 100 Experiments (#100E) initiative. Since its launch in 2020, the programme has provided more than 100 companies with access to funding and expertise to create quality training datasets for AI tools in addressing business challenges, greatly speeding up their plans to build their own AI teams. Successful projects include: ⚪ SembWaste’s new plastic-sorting system that improves plastic waste sorting accuracy from 85 to 95%. ⚪ Q & M Dental Group (Singapore) Limited's AI model for dental X-rays, which was trained with 20,000 scans to achieve between 85 and 95% accuracy.
