Elon Musk said on Monday he would ban Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices at all his companies if the iPhone maker integrated OpenAI at an OS level.
"That is an unacceptable security violation," the Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) chief executive tweeted.
"Visitors will have to check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage," Musk added.
Earlier in the day, the Cupertino, California-based giant announced a slew of artificial intelligence-centric updates to its operating systems.
The company also announced a partnership with Microsoft-backed OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into experiences within iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and Siri. The popular chatbot will be available for free later this year and will be integrated into Apple's (AAPL) systemwide writing tools.
"Privacy protections are built in when accessing ChatGPT within Siri and Writing Tools—requests are not stored by OpenAI, and users’ IP addresses are obscured," said OpenAI.
In March, Musk reportedly filed a lawsuit against the artificial intelligence research organization and its CEO Sam Altman, for allegedly putting profit ahead of benefiting humanity.
Musk reportedly said in the suit that the company's original mission of creating open-source technology that is not subject to corporate priorities has been undermined with Microsoft (MSFT) being the largest investor in OpenAI.
The tech billionaire, who co-founded OpenAI but no longer owns a stake in the company, recently raised $6 billion for his competing venture called xAI.
