Marathon Petroleum (NYSE:MPC) said Monday that President Maryann Mannen also will become CEO and join the company's board effective August 1, succeeding Michael Hennigan, who will transition from CEO to Executive Chairman.
Mannen also will succeed Hennigan as President and CEO of MPLX GP LLC, the general partner of MPLX (MPLX).
Mannen has served as President since this January, after previously serving as Executive VP and CFO since January 2021; before joining Marathon (MPC), she was Executive VP and CFO of TechnipFMC.
Hennigan has led Marathon Petroleum (MPC) as CEO since March 2020 and joined the company's board in April 2020; previously he was Chairman of the general partner of MPLX (MPLX) since April 2020, its CEO since November 2019 and its President since June 2017; before joining MPLX, he was led the Crude, NGL and Refined Products unit of Energy Transfer Partners and was President/CEO of Sunoco Logistics Partners during 2012-17.
Also, Marathon Petroleum (MPC) Chairman John Surma was elected to serve as Lead Director; he was elected Chairman in April 2020 after joining the board in 2011, and he was a member of MPLX's (MPLX) board since October 2012, after retiring as CEO and Executive Chairman of US Steel in 2013.
