The point is not the number of solar panels at this very moment. The point is the rate at which they are doubling. The number of installed solar panels in the world doubles every three years. The price of solar energy has fallen by 90 percent in a decade. At the same time, we are finding ways to make it cheaper. Technology that follows this type of exponential development tends to change the world. A world where the 800 million people who today do not have access to electricity can easily get it. Why do we believe in a solar future? The reasons are several: 🌅 Installed solar capacity doubles roughly every three years, growing ten-fold each decade. 🌅 Solar cells will in all likelihood be the single biggest source of electrical power on the planet by mid 2030s. By the 2040s they may be the largest source not just of electricity but of all energy. 🌅 On current trends, the all-in cost of the electricity they produce promises to be less than half as expensive as the cheapest available today. Will electricity prices increase over time? Yes. Will electricity prices decrease over time? Yes. The point is that they will vary a lot depending on when you use electricity. That is why we help our customers adapt to these changes. Charging your electric vehicle at the right time when the price is low combined with extra earnings for supporting the grid with new vehicle-to-grid technology will make electric vehicles more affordable. Can a solar park contribute to food production? 🌾 We are proud to present a solar park that contributes to double food production. Our agrivoltaic park together with Ekoväx i Norden AB is almost finished, becoming the first large-scale agrivoltaic park in Sweden. Ekoväx will cultivate the land between the panels, planting wheat and rapeseed. In addition, the solar production is sold through a power purchase agreement (PPA) to Europe's biggest vertical farmers Ljusgårda. – This is Sweden's most innovative solar park, the first large-scale agrivoltaic park with completely new technology. It feels great that this PPA is with Ljusgårda with their innovative and sustainable vegetable production. We would like to take this opportunity to highlight our partners Our New Energy and Energi Försäljning Sverige AB, who have been important pieces of the puzzle for the implementation of the PPA, says Pontus Skog, Head of Utility Development at Svea Solar.
