Parents are being warned to “immediately stop” using the power adapters sold with some Hatch baby sound machines after the company recalled nearly one million units for a defect.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said Wednesday that the company recalled the power adapters sold with its Rest 1st Generation sound machines because of a shock hazard.

“The plastic housing surrounding the AC power adapter supplied with some Rest 1st Generation sound machines can come off when removing the adapter from the power outlet, leaving the power prongs exposed and posing a shock hazard to consumers,” the CPSC said.

“The firm has received 19 reports of the plastic housing surrounding the AC power adapter coming off, including two reports of consumers who experienced a minor electrical shock,” the CPSC said.

Hatch said it is pursuing the recall voluntarily and is providing free power adapters to customers with the recalled model. The recall does not impact the sound machine itself.

Consumers who are unsure if they have the recalled model can take a picture and send it to Hatch.

Those recalled adapters were made in China and have the model number CYAP05 050100U.

The CPSP and Hatch estimate the recall applied to 919,400 units sold in the US and 44,352 sold in Canada.
