Congratulations to Imperial College London and the entire team, especially Director Rodrigo Ledesma-Amaro, PhD, on the launch of the Bezos Earth Fund Centre for Sustainable Protein. The $30M investment from the Bezos Earth Fund is a game-changer for developing sustainable and affordable food solutions. As Cai Linton aptly said, "Engineering biology for food just hit an inflection point of acceleration." This marks a pivotal moment in our efforts toward food sustainability. We are proud to support this initiative and help bring scientific innovation into commercial reality. Kudos to everyone involved! #SustainableFood #FoodInnovation #BezosEarthFund #ProteinRevolution #Bridge2Food #FutureOfFood

Working across the value chain to drive food sustainability

Great to be at Imperial College London for the launch of the Bezos Earth Fund supported Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein. Congratulations to Imperial College London and the team, especially to the centre's director, Rodrigo Ledesma-Amaro, PhD, as well as all the other consortium partners. An initial injection of $30m will certainly help the development of better & more affordable sustainable food. Great presentations from Andrew Steer, Andy Jarvis, Mary Ryan and Henry Dimbleby. We were reminded that our foods are uniquely vulnerable - as well as uniquely responsible - in regards to the climate crisis. Catching up after the event with Cai Linton who summed it up well: "It’s quite momentous; engineering biology for food just hit an inflection point of acceleration. I hope it catalyses an industry-academic partnership that brings sustainable protein into the mainstream". This will be one of 3 such funded Centres for Sustainable Protein - we have North Carolina State University, Imperial College London, along with a yet-to-be-announced centre in Asia. Bridge2Food is proud to support the work of the centre and to help scientific innovation be implemented commercially. Parag Acharya - congratulations & thanks for the photo!

Our Bridge2Food Europe event in Den Haag was great. But events like that don't just happen - who was behind the magic? All the sponsors, speakers and delegates helped make the gathering one to remember. This post acknowledges the team who delivered such a great event. In no particular order: Charlotte Neher - you took it up a level this year with a FANTASTIC programe, delivered much earlier. It was also great to see you in action at the Course, speaking confidently, eloquently & passionately to +200 people. Marnie Hewat - making a great duo with Charlotte, Marnie brings food science knowledge & rigour to our content process, as well as coordinating our EcoSystem and research project initiatives. Maria Rossi Koller - within the space of 3 weeks, you managed to get married, oversee our EU project meetings, then expertly currated track 3. The groundwork that you have put into our American event allowed Charlotte and Marnie to concentrate on the Eurpean event. Julia Wocka-Gowda - As always, you put your heart & soul into the event and delivered a showcase of the best companies in the sector. Your attention to customer care made sure that they were all happy. Lucas Citron - what an amazing delegate campaign! This was a record-breaking event for us. All of the digital delivery (websites, apps, communication) meant that the world was aware what was going on. Andrea Ojembarrena - always a wonderful support to the whole team, you kept the team organised and managed to deliver a great combined Course, Summit, GIANT LEAPS project meeting and PLENITUDE meeting. Sonja Schaefers and BEAU & XR Events ☆ Evenementenbureau were a great operational support, handling everything from the venue, catering (can get complicated at a food event with so many samples), registration, plus AV. Thanks to you and Larissa! Gregory See Hoye - He must have been jet-lagged, but you wouldn't have known it! Bringing his knowledge & client-side experience, Greg managed to bring some sponsors to Europe and leads Bridge2Food commercially in North America. Ella Stephens - as well as bringing delegates, Ella handled lots of the things that aren't recognised (payment processing, delegate logistics, sponsorship delivery), but become a real problem if they go wrong. Thank you Ella - what a great last event for you & best of luck with your new challenges. Dr. Luis A. Fernandez ★ MANE - the chairman of our EcoSystem and also the conference chair for the Summit - your combination of energy, enthusiasm & experience have a great positive influence on us. Special mention also to Olivia Brent at Alliance Sales Support Services Limited for manning the Bridge2Food booth and to Naropa Love - who will be there next time! Thanks also to Sophie Eke, Matthew George, Robin Shute, plus others at Arc network for your support & help. Lastly, thank you to Simon Foster for giving me the opportunity to lead this wonderful team.

    Senior Marketing Manager at Bridge2Food

I am not the one to post on LinkedIn, but last week, we delivered Bridge2Food Europe... - And it wouldn't have been possible without all these legends! From early this year, when we decided to co-locate the two events, to the last bits at the very end. I want to give a huge shoutout to the incredible team who made it all possible. Charlotte Neher for putting the programme together like a chess grandmaster Marnie Hewat the food magician and content nerdy Maria Rossi Koller the one who never runs out of energy and is always up to help with anything Julia Wocka-Gowda who can sell ice to the Eskimo Andrea Ojembarrena who can organise everything and anything Olivia Brent who we can trust for any telesales work Gregory See Hoye it was nice to finally meet you (I'm sure we will work lots together from now on!) Vincent Brain for picking my "brain" (see what I did here? 😉 ) and helping with decisions throughout this whole campaign And Sophie Eke who gives me wisdom and clarity when I need it the most! Annnddd 🥁 (Julia's drums), in special to my right arm hand and leg, Ella Stephens, who during this event's marketing campaign kept me updated on every data/info needed in order for our marketing to work. A super mega well done. Good luck on your new journey, "homie"! I'm cheering for you. Each one of you has helped us deliver this event, and it was a pleasure working next to each of you this past week. Here's to many more to come. "Let's do this!" like Mr. V. Brain always says! 🙌 Picture: Butino

👨🔬 What is "R&D 4.0"? 🧙♀️ How does "servant leadership" build teams of giants? 🥚 The need for new formats - why is it okay for an egg to be an egg and not a steak? 💹 How to fail quickly and turn that into success - the story of a Japanese housewife and a great product needing to find a market. ❓ Looking for answers to these questions...? Bridge2Food's EcoSystem content is overseen by an global advisory board of 12 highly experienced leaders in the food & beverage industry. Since taking the chairman's role, Dr. Luis A. Fernandez ★ MANE has interviewed a number of members of our advisory board in a podcast style. Yesterday it was the turn of Chris Thoen who has held leadership roles in Givaudan Sense Colour, Bühler Group and Procter & Gamble. It's a fascinating video available at https://bit.ly/3VChwgU If you enjoyed this, you'll love our EcoSystem. Contact the bridge2food team to find out more.
