What if the key to driving organisational growth lies in your company culture? Companies in the past often viewed culture as secondary to strategy, primarily focused on rules, processes and structure, more and more businesses today have realised that a positive and aligned culture is one of the foundational pillars to organisational agility and customer success. But here lies a question that I often hear from business leaders I engage with: How can I foster a strong and increasingly healthy culture in my organisation? It is important to first understand what a strong culture constitutes. A strong culture is: - Employee-centric, not compliance-centric -Focused on engagement, empowerment and alignment instead of rules and processes. - Innovation driven, not risk-averse - Constantly encouraging creativity, experimentation and agility instead of rigid structures. - Inclusive and diverse - This should not be overlooked or treated as a separate initiative. - Customer-centric, not just internally focused - Happy employee = happy customer, sometimes it’s just as simple as that. I recently hosted a really inspiring PropertyGuru’s team building event, and it was very encouraging to see the team being so proactive even though it was conducted virtually. Throughout the experience, the team unlocked new and creative ways to connect and collaborate, as well as gained a deeper understanding of each other by identifying different behavioural styles and personalities. Individuals connected their personal goals to the organisation’s goals driving a stronger relationship between the geographically dispersed team members and strengthening the overall company culture. A team building session built with fun in mind keeps the team spirit high; but a team building session built with purpose in mind has the power to impact teams both personally and professionally, ultimately shifting their ways of working and, in the long run, driving organisational success.
