FARE Food Allergy Expansion

In FY22, Mobile Care began an exciting partnership with the Food Allergy Research Education (FARE). FARE is committed to reducing health inequities in food allergy, a potentially life-threating disease impacting 32 million Americans.

This partnership works to promote awareness of MCC’s existing food allergy treatment and allergy skin testing through community events led by a community health worker, with a focus in Chicago’s 15th Ward including Southwest Side neighborhoods, Brighton Park, Back of theYards, and West Englewood.

Opioid Recovery Van

In Chicago, opioid-related overdose deaths increased by 50% during the first six months of 2020 over the same period in the previous year. In May 2021, MCC launched a joint harm reduction clinic with the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Community Outreach and Intervention Programs (COIP) division. The project is the result of a unique arrangement between MCC and UIC: the mobile unit is owned and operated by MCC, and clinical care is provided by UIC’s experienced street medicine team. The mobile unit conducts a needle exchange program, provides a full spectrum of mental health services, takes walk-in medical appointments for wound care and opioid recovery, and also provides NARCAN education and distribution.

Flex Van

Launched in the Summer of 2021, our “Flex Vans” are unlike  our other vehicles that are designed for one specific purpose, Flex Vans can support any one of MCC’s services on a given day.Flex Vans are smaller units with portable equipment, allowing several types of care to be provided and expanding its ability to respond to whatever are the most pressing needs at any given time. Our Flex Vans can be used by organizations who need or want to reach more people in need of their services
