AOMA Esports (also known as A One Man Army Esports) is a Dutch esports team. Since 2024, their headquarters are based in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands.[1]
History[edit]
AOMA Esports made their competitive debut in the 2021 Open Tour Benelux, but started their first full season at the First Qualifier of the 2022 Spring Dutch Tour. Following consistent performances of their Dutch roster consisting of JJS156, Baran, Crown, Youlie and Hawk, the roster managed to qualify for the 2022 Spring Dutch Tour by finishing 4th in the points standings. AOMA confidently qualified for the playoffs, where they would lose 0-3 to Northern Lions in the finals to finish their first season in second place. In the Summer 2022 Dutch Tour, they qualified with a 9-3 record and again finished second after a 1-3 loss to Northern Lions. With these results, they qualified for the 2022 ESLOL Benelux Tour, where they were eliminated in the group stage after losing to Team Adverse. Their final appearance in the ESLOL 2022 Pro-Am ended with 0-2 and 1-2 defeats against Team 7AM and ZennIT, finishing last in their final tournament of the year.
The team received an invite for the newly formed Elite Series 2nd Division in 2023. With a new roster: Makk, Gaboesh, Lotus, Bewis, and Kruimel, AOMA finished the regular season 12-2. They won 3-0 against Rift Sloths in the Upper Bracket Finals but lost to Reapers Gaming in the finals. Despite finishing second, AOMA was invited to the 2023 Elite Series Summer Season. They replaced Gaboesh, Lotus, and Kruimel with Flawed, Marty, and Stookbeer ahead of the season. With those changes, they finished the season 8-6, narrowly making playoffs, where they would end up losing to KRC Genk Esports, finishing fourth in their division 1 debut.
Heading into 2024, AOMA replaced the entire roster. Wind, Sawyor, Pumpy, Kehvo and Bloody Butcher would make up the roster for the 2024 Spring Elite Series. Despite a 9-5 record, the team barely made it to playoffs, with Myth Esports losing just a single game more and failing to qualify. AOMA beat mCon esports in a convincing 3-1 victory, repeating that result against ZennIT to qualify for the finals. Facing KRC Genk, they lost 0-3 but secured their first ever EMEA Masters Appearance. Despite two victories against BeFive Esports, AOMA failed to make it past the play-in stage, finishing 21st-24th. Heading into the 2024 Summer split, they once again replaced their entire roster, which now consisted of FatShield, Deletus, Nano, Mauki, Moosey and substitute Pepe.
On May 26th of 2024, Sheep Esports published an article revealing that four members of the team are hospitalized following a severe car crash.[2] The team was on their way to the Elite Series media day before colliding with a bus on the E34 in Belgium, leaving a total of 5 people wounded. A statement by the organisation on the 27th of May confirmed that three players and one staff member have been hospitalized.[3]
