About this book

This book describes Emergency Ultrasound (EFAST echo, Lung Ultrasound, Vascular Ultrasound and Transthoracic Echocardiograhy) and all ultrasound technics in Anesthesia practice, i.e. Gastric Ultrasound, Airway Ultrasound and Ultrasound guided vascular access.

About the editors

Dr. Noreddine Bouarroudj serves as Consultant Anesthesiologist and Chief Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Clinique Maissalyne. Dr. Bouarroudj after graduating from Constantine University School of Medicine, completed his Anesthesiology Critical Care residency and Emergency fellowship at University Hospital Center of Constantine, joined the Department of Anesthesiology at the University Hospital Center of Batna Algeria in 1997 where he served as head of Critical Care and Emergency and then as head of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care. Subsequently head of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care Service at the Clinique Ibn Sina where he implemented Locoregional Anesthesia practice and as medical director at the Naoufel Clinic from 2008 to 2020 where he implemented POCUS, Ultrasound in Critical Care, Emergency Ultrasound and Ultrasound Guided Anesthesia, Interventional Pain Management and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery. Since 2017 he is the Director of  the Masterclass of Ultrasound Guided Anesthesia and POCUS for anesthesiologists and Director of Anesthesie Club. He is Editor Board Membre at Signa Vitae Journal (Journal of Anesthesia, Intensive Care, Emergency and Pain Medicine) and Co-Editor-in-Chief at UJAAC Universal Journal of Anesthesia and Critical Care (Editorial Board) and has been invited as a conference speaker and workshop trainer on regional anesthesia locally and internationally.In 2023 he occupies a new position as  Director of Continuing Medical Education for French Speaking Countries  in AFSRA (African Society of Regional Anaesthesia).

 

Dr. Peňafrancia Cano is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of the Philippines College of Medicine-Philippine General Hospital.  Currently, she is the Chief of the Division of Regional Anesthesia (RA) and the Head of the RA Fellowship Training in the same institution; previously, she served as the Division Chief of Ambulatory Anesthesia and Orthopedic Anesthesia. Dr. Cano is formerly an Associate Professor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of the Philippines College of Medicine.  She underwent a fellowship in Molecular Biology at the Kobe University College of Medicine in Kobe, Japan in 1996 and also a fellowship training in Transplant Anesthesia at the Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms University in Bonn, Germany in 1997. She was the first  to obtain the European Diploma in Regional Anesthesia (EDRA) from the European Society of Regional Anesthesia Diploma in the Philippines. Dr. Cano has been invited as a speaker at international congresses and she has also worked as  faculty of New York School of Regional Anesthesia (NYSORA)-Asia and NYSORA World Anesthesia Congress (NWAC) in Rome, Bangkok, and Vienna. Dr. Cano is one of the co-founders of RA-Asia, an organization of RA experts in Asia and co-founder and Head of the Academic Committee of the Manila Academy of Regional Anesthesia (MARA), an educational organization of anesthesiologists who pioneered the introduction of UGRA in the Philippines. She is also the President of the POCUS

Special Interest Group called SCAN.

Dr. Shahridan bin Mohd Fathil obtained his MBBS from the University of Malaya in 1996. He underwent anaesthesia training initially in Malaysia, and then Ireland and England. He has also completed a Regional Anaesthesia Fellowship in Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia. He was appointed as a consultant and later senior consultant with Alexandra Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital ,Singapore before his move to Gleneagles Medini. His main field of interest are focused on US guided regional anaesthesia and point-of-care US. He was the past convenor for the special interest group in regional anaesthesia, College of Anaesthesiologists, and is the past member of the executive committees of the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists and the Society of Critical and Emergency Sonography, Malaysia Emergency Sonography, Malaysia.

He is currently the Deputy Editor for the Malaysian Journal of Anaesthesiology.

Prof. Habiba Memamid obtained his PHD of intensive care at the Medical Faculty University Al Baz 1 Setif in Algeria. He is responsible for the Intensive Care Unit at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Saadna Abdenour De Sétif and his main fields of interests are critical care echocardiography and hemodynamic evaluation.
