The Kiunga Youth Bunge Initiative, in collaboration with Act Change Transform under the ARIVE Program funded by GCERF (Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund) - GCERF, hosted a groundbreaking TVET Open Day & Expo at Kizingitini Lamu East Technical and Vocational College. This event was a game-changer, bringing together key stakeholders, including Administration, Security actors, Youth Fund representatives, and enthusiastic youths eager to explore opportunities at this transformative institution. Lamu County has faced the daunting challenges of violent extremism and radicalization, and the best way to overcome these threats is by providing economic empowerment to our youth. Lamu East Technical and Vocational College is paving the way for a brighter future by offering a variety of courses that not only equip students with valuable skills but also open doors to entrepreneurial opportunities upon completion. What's even more remarkable is the unwavering support from our visionary MP, Hon. Captain Ruweida Mohamed , who has generously sponsored students to pursue courses free of charge. This significant milestone ensures that financial constraints are no longer a barrier, creating a powerful platform for our youth to acquire the skills they need for success. The Lamu Arts and Theatre Alliance added a touch of creativity to the event, captivating the audience with a thought-provoking skit highlighting the importance of joining this institution. Using theater as a medium, they effectively conveyed the wealth of opportunities available, sparking inspiration within the community. A special moment unfolded as we witnessed the state-of-the-art equipment at the institution, officially launched by H.E. Dkt. William Samoei Ruto, PhD, the President of the Republic of Kenya.
