Unconscious biases undeniably inform our hiring choices, ranging from trivial preferences like favouring applicants with similar names as you to larger societal biases around gender, class, race, sexual orientation etc. Having worked in the data science and AI space in the past 10+ years, I have seen firsthand how hard it is to recruit and retain a gender equal team. We all know the stats - women make up only 26% of professionals in Data and AI according to the World Economic Forum’s 2020 Global Gender Gap Report. Addressing biases in hiring was crucial for us at Dalberg Data Insights as we strive to build a high-quality team based on potential, not privilege. We want to ensure that our hiring process identifies candidates with the most potential, not the most privilege or resources. Born from a desire for an efficient and equitable hiring process and finding existing platforms inadequate at mitigating bias, we set out to build our own Generative AI-driven application, AIA Hiring, that streamlines and improves our hiring process by addressing biases at every stage of the hiring process. AIA Hiring comprises of: - A Robust AI Scoring System to counter biases - we replaced one of the most subjective elements of the hiring process, human CV shortlisting, with a robust AI scoring system. - An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) that enables us to implement a comprehensive approach to reducing bias by tracking it at every step of the hiring process. - A Responsible AI Framework that guides every step of the process in order to ensure fairness, transparency and data security. The impact has been remarkable! 🚀 We reduced CV review time from minutes to seconds per application, allowing us to handle ten times more applications while saving over 100 hours of review time per applicant. This efficiency enabled us to manage thousands of applications in under five hours, tripling our interview capacity and enhancing candidate engagement. 👩💻 Diversity saw a significant boost, with the ratio of female candidates in final interviews increasing from less than 20% to 50%, and 75% of our new hires are female, forming one of our highest-performing cohorts. 😍 Applicant satisfaction has soared, with 100% positive feedback in anonymous surveys and a median wait time reduction from three months to three weeks. At DDI, we believe in the effective and ethical augmentation of human workflows using AI, finding the right balance of responsibility between the two. If these outcomes resonate with the challenges your organization faces in hiring, we are seeking partners to pilot and deploy AIA Hiring on a larger scale - get in touch with us. Our goal is to bring fairness to hiring across the many sectors in which we work. Huge thanks to Sebastian Dodt, the brain behind AIA Hiring. I am so proud to be working with you! #ResponsibleAI #Hiring #equity #GenAI
