We're delighted to share that this year, we celebrate 25 years of Dasra being in service of anchoring transformative impact in India. This journey has been one of recognizing the deep inequities that live among us, by making visible the invisible and bridging these vast divides. It has been about sparking determination, not pity. It has been about challenging the status quo, the courage to take paths less travelled and the willingness to immerse in the shared truths of our vulnerabilities. It has been about making philanthropy work for communities, not for privilege. It has called for nurturing trust and radical kindness; the empathy to explore possibilities and the humility to accept these in our oneness. This journey has been about a fierce ambition to be uncompromising, to satiate the hunger for learning and to have the audacity to amplify the most vulnerable of voices. It has required perseverance, empathy, and gusto: true moral courage for sustenance. It has for us inspired leadership that adjusts the sails to catch the wind to imagine possibilities in pursuit of a higher purpose, bigger than ourselves but that together is surmountable. For us, it has been a journey of combining the power of the mind and the courage of the heart to tackle large-scale inequities. As we look forward, we remain committed to our vision of transforming India anchored around our ethos of empowering communities to "thrive through equity". It seems like a long journey thus far, but for us, the journey has just begun. #thrivethroughequity #ABillionThriving #Dasraat25 Neera Nundy Deval Sanghavi Shailja Mehta Jyotirmoy Chatterji Ninad Ankleshwaria Parnasha Banerjee Dinella Oliveira

We convened a virtual #paneldiscussion, "Unbalanced Scale: A Practitioner's Lens on Enabling Women’s Leadership through Organizational Change," on July 31st. The #webinar is part of a series of research and learning dialogues under our Women’s Leadership initiative and focused on the healthcare industry. With over 100 participants, this dialogue brought together solution provider organizations - to understand the #blocks & #drivers for #Womeninleadership. The speakers underscored the critical need for concerted organizational and sectoral efforts in advancing women's leadership. #Keytakeaways: 1. There need to be 3 levels of action – supporting individual women’s journeys to leadership; #ecosystem efforts such as #data on representation, policies, encouraging reporting, and sector action; and thirdly, organizational level commitments & action. We are not starting from scratch; there is a wealth of experts and knowledge available. 2. There are critical positive nudges on #policies that women leaders can make to drive #organizationalchange. But there is a significant amount of work to be done on all fronts –both in aligning on the problem and defining effective solutions. 3. The #glasscliff is real: there are many visible women leaders; but available data shows twice as many women as men drop off on their way to advanced roles. 4. P&L roles remain critical milestones in career trajectories to advancement – and we need to figure how to get mid-career women into these roles 5. #Leadershipbuilding is not episodic; interventions need to take a continuum approach. 6. Leadership intent needs to be met with organizational commitments. 7. Organizational commitments to women’s leadership need to proactively communicated both externally as well as internally 8. Incremental, collaborative efforts can help us increase ambition and move the needle forward This discussion is part of our broader commitment within the WomenLead India Alliance to advance women's leadership across sectors. By bringing together diverse voices and leveraging existing expertise, we aim to create impactful solutions that support more women in ascending to leadership roles. Please see the event through our YouTube live recording: https://lnkd.in/dTs-JqBB and follow our page for more updates. “Nature has reared us, offering every food. We have grown from childhood, It has stored many species of fruits In trees here and there, everywhere. It has offered wood to cover our home With bundles of wild grass or paddy straw.” – An indigenous Kui song sung by Khond tribal community of Odisha. From the young girls of Agragamee's school, we learned some mathematics, about nature, and the power of collaborative movements led by their grandmothers. Visiting our local partners usually involves all manners of planes, trains, and automobiles, but the long hours of travel are well worth the effort. It is an honor to spend time with our incredible local partner teams and the communities they serve. Since 2022, Rebuild India Fund has supported 175 organizations from 24 states and 5 union territories of India, covering approximately 61% of all the aspirational districts in India. Rayagada is one of the aspirational districts that we visited in Odisha. Our team has visited over 32 partner organizations, and some of these journeys have been captured with photos and on-ground insights here: https://lnkd.in/dkwKFGwf. We are no longer a people with attention spans and a dedication to long form, so here is a glimpse of “what it means to be on the ground.” Keep an eye on our social feeds for more info and behind-the-scenes moments from field visits across the country.
