🎙️ Hear from Hub Director Stefanos Fotiou as he reflects on the journey since the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit in his latest interview with Zero Hunger Coalition. He discusses some significant milestones reached and ongoing efforts in national food systems transformation pathways. As we approach the #UNFSS2025 Stocktaking Moment, he emphasizes how collaboration with #FoodSystems Coalitions can drive us closer to achieving SDG2 #ZeroHunger.
What’s the state of play of the #FoodSystemTransformation among governments worldwide? “We have 127 governments that have developed pathways submitted during the UN Food Systems Summit in 2021, and we still see other governments updating or developing new pathways. […] The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub acts as a coordinator and the Zero Hunger Coalition serves as a solution provider.” They can work in a complementary way. 🗨 Stefanos Fotiou, Director of the United Nations UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, talks about the achievements of the Stocktaking Moment in 2023 and explains the collaboration between the Hub and the Coalition. 📺 ⤵ #FoodSystemTransformation #SDG2 #EndHunger Ibrahim Mayaki FAO International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) World Food Programme Leonard Mizzi Raharinomena Fanja African Union Development Agency-NEPAD Maximo Torero Lawrence Haddad CMG https://lnkd.in/gUzjShRN

We are proud in the Hub that we have supported part of this work in Kenya! We will continue our collaboration and support to ensure more results and achievements are brought forward as we move to the 2025 UNFSS+4.
When the UN supports countries to walk the talk of the #SDGs: The success case of #Kenya. I was excited to meet with my colleagues from the UN Country Team in Kenya and learn from them how they have put together an ecosystem of partners that support the Government in implementing their National #FoodSystems Transformation Pathway. Under the leadership of the UNRC and with the technical leadership of FAO, World Food Programme, International Fund for Agricultural Development, (IFAD) UN Environment Programme and other Agencies the team has lot of results to showcase. A mapping of stakeholders has revealed the expertise, networks and dynamics in the areas of food systems. A review of the financial flows on food systems has showcased how much is invested and for what. A new national pathway named 'Enhancing Partnerships' was introduced to foster collaboration among stakeholders to achieve their common goals. An expert has been placed in the Office of the National Convenor supporting their work and ensuring that complementarities are developed. Project proposals focusing on school meals and the sustainability of the coffee value chain have been developed. Kenya has also already completed two sensitization workshops facilitated through modest funds provided through the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub. These workshops have succeeded in mobilizing a diverse spectrum of stakeholders, including government entities, external partners, civil society groups, development partners, county governments, and the private sector. The workshops aimed to enhance understanding, garner stakeholder buy-in, secure political support, and define key actions for the implementation of their national pathway. So far, seven government departments have strategically aligned their activities with Kenya’s new national pathway. These collaborations are primarily focused on digitization efforts, youth inclusion programs, expansion of the Home-Grown School Meals initiative, and climate action initiatives. The team also has plans ahead as they wish to localize the food systems agenda at the County level, organize a national stocktake and increase the flows of investments for food systems transformation. Congratulations UN Country Team Kenya! Kenya's progress serves as an inspiring example of what can be achieved when sectors and stakeholders unite in pursuit of a common food systems vision. It is also an inspiring example of the unique work that a one-UN approach brings at the country level. With continued dedication and the support of international partners, Kenya is well on its way to realizing its vision of a transformed and inclusive food system that benefits all its citizens, leaving no one behind. #agriculture #sustainabledevelopment
