Plastics Treaty INC4

The fourth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment (INC-4), took place from 23 to 29 April 2024 at the Shaw Center in Ottawa, Canada. The main issue on the agenda was to advance negotiations on the basis of the Revised draft text of the zero draft. IPEN POs from South Asia actively participated in the conference to push for treaty text to address plastics throughout its life cycle. This meeting aims to share the proceedings of the INC4 with a perspective of regional positions and challenges. IPEN POs from the South Asia region who participated in the conference will share updates, progress, concerns, challenges, and the plan for the Global plastic treaty. This debrief session will also act as a platform for the POs to strategize as a region for the upcoming INC5.
Eco circular Foundation, India; ESDO, Bangladesh; JJS, Bangladesh; and Toxics Link, India participated in the meeting.
