About us
CropLife India is not a profit oriented organization, wholly funded by membership. It works closely with CropLife Asia & CropLife International, the global parent organizations spread across 91 countries, to drive programs to promote safe, responsible and judicious use of crop protection solutions under the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach through Product Stewardship, Progressive Regulation, Intellectual Property Rights and Data protection. The regulatory framework of pesticides encompasses national, regional, and international legislation and conventions that help assure safety for users, consumers and the environment. A regulatory environment will define the speed at which farmers will reap benefits of new technologies and be globally competitive. The approval and use of Crop Protection Products is highly regulated all over the world, including India. India has a robust regulatory system and highly knowledgeable regulatory officials compared to most other countries. The Indian regulatory system is rapidly evolving to harmonize with global regulations as per FAO/ WHO guidelines in order to ensure that farmers have the best choice of products and latest innovations on par with farmers across the world with established efficacy as well as safety. While India’s regulatory system for registration of crop products is a resilient one, CropLife India continues its engagement to advocate a regulatory system that would continuously improve to facilitate introduction of innovative crop protection solutions to the farmers.

The following initiatives are not only supporting the adoption of modern technologies but also driving significant improvements in productivity and farmer livelihoods: 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 (𝗲𝗡𝗔𝗠): This pan-India electronic trading portal connects existing Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) mandis, creating a unified national market for agricultural commodities. It ensures better prices for farmers through a transparent auction process. 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿–𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗙𝗣𝗢𝘀): With a $750 million grant, the government is promoting the establishment of over 10,000 FPOs in the next five years. These organizations help collectivize the otherwise fragmented farmer base, making it easier for agtech companies to scale up their business models. 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸: India is developing a unified database of agricultural data sets linked to farmers based on their land holdings. This will enable agtech companies to customize offerings and products based on specific farmer needs. 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗶𝗹-𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀: This program maps soil composition and quality at the farmer level, promoting precision-farming initiatives and tailored offerings for specific farmer groups. 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱: This fund supports the promotion of the agtech ecosystem, seeding new startups, and increasing digital adoption in agriculture.
