Some takeaways from the panel: - There is a noticeable hesitation in the global integration of ESG practices, with a decline in asset owners incorporating ESG processes over the past year. The shift from active to passive ESG investments also presents challenges in integrating ESG principles within passive strategies. - Compliance with regulations such as SFDR, CSRD, and evolving IFRS standards remains a primary motivator for corporate sustainability efforts. The terminology around ESG is shifting towards less contentious terms like "sustainability" or "responsibility." - Generative AI is playing a critical role in addressing labor bottlenecks in ESG research by automating repetitive and labor-intensive tasks, enabling professionals to focus on higher-value activities. Ensuring accurate and comprehensive ESG data, particularly for Scope 3 and Scope 4 emissions, is complex. AI can help improve estimation methodologies, but transparency and customization are crucial for accurate reporting. - AI models can handle vast amounts of data, providing valuable insights and filling data gaps.
